My kids always told me that you can find any information you want- about anyone- on the internet. So I figured that I will follow that advice about not posting anything you don't want the whole world to see, and if someone shows up at my house- I'll make them a sandwich. I can't even remember half the things I've posted, but I've matured since I've been on the UMA and I think I'm a lot more sophisticated then I was 5 years ago. In fact, I never mentioned to anyone that 2 weeks ago I was determined to clear out the remaining Rubbermaid containers of old toys in my garage, and while I was soaking the 25+ years of dust/grime off of them- I fell backwards into the stupid bathtub ( that we never use) and landed on 15-20 My Little Pony toys and ended up with a giant bruise all up my back.  I told my daughter- who needs to come and collect the MLPs- and all she had to say was,  "were you wearing clothes?"
OF COURSE I WAS! But she didn't even seemed concerned that the Pony heads & hooves could have resulted in my death. But what a sweeeet obituary that would have been....

You are aware of the staggering popularity of MLP right now, yes?

I didn't know they were back in style. My daughter played with hers outside in the dirt, so they are pretty scratched up- but they are clean   :)   I also trimmed the frayed edges of their manes off, and brushed them.  Even though they maimed me.

Whoa!! I can't believe the prices they are asking for those things! My daughter played with hers outdoors, so they look rough. If only I had kept some in their original packaging! Who would have ever thought?

Well the writing was on the wall for observant people to see - if they bothered to look that is. My Little Pony figurines were enormously popular with little girls at the time, but adults thought they were just junk for little girls and weren't interested. So the My Little Ponies were used and abused for play; they weren't hoarded as instant collectibles. Contrast that to Beanie Babies, which were seen as instant treasures/collectibles. In fact, I remember Beanie Baby prices showing up in toy price guide magazines in the nineties; I noticed no such thing for My Little Ponies.

Actually the popularity of MLP is not the normal path that we see with toys that become valuable collectibles.  A few years ago, a new MLP show was created and it has a wide appeal with people in their teens to early 30's.  People who have no memory of them as a kid.

Wow. Think of all the money us non-MLP collectors are saving. I felt rich for a second there......never mind, it's gone.
