Unless I'm mistaken ( and I'm not), the General Discussion area wasn't forced on you guys. It was your idea. I just think its funny that you're upset that so much General Discussion was going on in the General Discussion area.

Again, I'm not arguing with you. I'm not here begging you to keep anything. I'm just enjoying the spectacle, and looking forward with interest to the results.

It was supposed to be for the occasional off topic post, not for anything and everything that comes into somebody's head.

We're not upset with anything. And nobody forced it on us. Don't really understand how this qualifies as a spectacle for you, but glad we are keeping you entertained. The reality of the problems you are imagining might arise I think is greatly exaggerated.

The tone of your posts say otherwise. And I never said I was anticipating problems, so your assumptions are flawed. But I am being entertained. Right now, in fact.

In the General Discussion thread, where it belongs, why the hell not? I'm not arguing with you.......you purists are going to do what you want and that's fine. I'm just looking forward to seeing you guys parse every post. I'm sure that's going to be pretty entertaining in and of itself.

That's what I meant by "problems".  That's not going to happen.

I am grateful for this site and the hard work the mods do. I will be glad when it is back to MONSTER specific posts. I have made many friends here and have several ways of keeping in touch. The site is someone else's to do with as they please. When it becomes not about MONSTERS any more I won't come on here. When it ceases to be about the last song I listened to, I really won't care, there are other places I can share this. I just don't get the drama.

My reference there is the standard you set in the Pinball thread. If that's the standard you're going to try to enforce, where any reference to anything outside of monsters has to be redacted, that would be amusing to see unfold. Especially since so much of Terry's postings there would fall under the cyber-scissors.

Again, I'm interested to see how it all shakes out.

When you've got a close-knit community of members who have been on a site for years, where people feel free to discuss "anything and everything that comes into somebody's head", and you have a section of the forums devoted to that...what's the problem? After talking about whether the latest slasher film reboot will be crap or not, and discussing the wonderful details on a model kit someone has posted photos of, what's wrong with posting about finding your mom's treasure trove of "Li'l Lulu" comics you came across while cleaning out the attic?

In the future, Scatter, I believe the thread title will be "Monster Pinball Machines," which would not encourage people to post non-Monster Pinball Machines...  Oui or no?

Granted, I love a lot of the Pinball Machines in that thread, including the Rocky and Bullwinkle one, but I get the fact that this forum can't be a catch-all for memories of a bygone age.  I never even looked into that thread until Hepcat posted a link.  Since the expansion, I have had to limit myself to looking at three or so forums and posting regularly in only one because I didn't have time for everything else.  There's a lot of wonderful stuff here that I have never seen and will never see.  Time is the enemy of every man.

I hope the mods and admins remember to save Unknown Primate's "King Kong vs. Frankenstein" thread. I was going to post the link, but General Discussion is already gone. I figured it could moved to Monster Literature, or preserved as read-only.

Just speculation, but I could see where it was maybe getting too extensive to keep a handle on and an alternative to scratching it altogether was to pare it down. I don't know - I don't do any of the work - but if that's the case, more power to them.

>Why doesn't somebody just start a General Discussion site? A lot of people seem interested in such a place. Guess nobody wants to do the work. It's easier to turn someone else's site into what they want it to be.<

Mike, with respect that seems to be precisely what you and Bobby are doing here, because this site WAS evidently what most members wanted it to be, and that is being changed without a vote.

The snark thrown at folks in this thread who are just trying to defend a concept of general discussion among friends is sad; the level of insult that has fallen to from a "Moderate-or" makes that title inaccurate.

This silliness approaches an attempt at thought policing, and it is most emphatically NOT in the spirit of the UMA that I joined many long years ago.
