Yeah, I think it's the same graphic. It may just have held the 3 originals. Seeing even painted versions of the Phantom, Creature, and Mummy is cool!  Hardly ever see those sets.

The Hasbro Horror House Paint and Pencil set contained Frankenstein, Wolfman and Dracula 12" X 16" canvass panels w/ oil paints and were all contained in the set and are identical to the individually packaged ones we are more familiar with . In addition, there are thirty-six 8" X 10" presketched sheets of more generic style monster scenes for coloring w/ pencil, crayons and watercolor. It sold through Sears for $3.97. The set is advertised in the 1963 Sears Christmas catalog, pg. 267. I posted a  photo of the ad and my box (which I believe is the one posted here) on this site a little over a year ago. Also have a photo of the contents of a complete one I pulled of an eBay auction last fall, (mine is missing one of the canvas panels), but am experiencing difficulties posting photos on this site.

Thanks for the info! So it for sure didn't have the individual boxed versions of those sets "gift packed" inside it, just their contents, correct?

Here's a link on how to post photos here if it will help. http://www.universalmonsterarmy.com/forum/index.php?topic=2087.0. With how often ficker, etc have changed their APIs, I'm not any good at it myself.

Edit: I just found your original post, but the pic is pretty small:

Is it the same graphic on both sides of the box? Or another monster? Id like to see that Gem sitting in my display case!

Yep, same on both sides. It's a really cool printing job, four non-mixed flat color fields heavy printed on a fairly sturdy cardboard box. I bought the first one I'd ever seen or heard of for a friend years ago and got to marvel at it quite a bit. I've seen that one - which was empty - and one other in person, and maybe four or five others in pics of people's collections over the decades. I'd love to see photos of all the pencil by number images. I've been told the vampire brides one of the images. Sure would be cool if that were the case.

Thanks,
I've tried all the instructions a few times. Photobucket is the only service that has worked for me in the past, but not now.

Here's a well listed and framed Frankenstein's Monster that ended about a week before those others:

1963 Frankenstein's Monster sold $286.20

There are multiple photos in the auction. This one is another hotlinked ebay image, so again save it if you want it, and rehost and repost if you want it to stay.

Wicked box art! I've never seen that before!

That's not even the box, just a painted one that's been framed. Here's a photo of the Frankie box from the UMA photo archives (visible if you're signed in, I believe):

Same image as used on the pencil by number sets and the three ring binder.

Love to know who painted that box art. And where it is now, of course.

Thanks Shawn! I was referencing the box set art posted earlier in the thread though.....but the art on the individual paint sets is equally impressive!

I'm dreaming of a row of these on the wall next to my bed.....

Does Nancy know about her?

Hepcat just hepped me to another thread about these oil paint by number kits with great photos of the paintings and boxes. Check it out if you haven't seen it already! Thanks Hep!

You cheat on a Puerto Rican girl, you gotta sleep with one eye open. No thanks.

Regarding the Sears exclusive Hasbro Horror House Paint & Pencil set, here is a photo of my box, the '63 Sears Christmas catalog ad (hopefully not in thumb scale this time), and the contents from past auctions. (sorry, photos are in reverse order). Interesting the title on the box is Horror House and the ad title is House of Horrors. Maybe later I can get photos of the presketched paper 8" X 10" monsters I have in my set, some of which are generic styled.
