Do you post on Facebook? Why or why not?

???
Collecting! It's what I do!

LundyAfterMidnight

Yes, I was prodded to join by some friends & relations a few yrs ago. Most of the time I enjoy it as a great way to connect. It also brings out the narcissism in some people!

This is currently the only information forum or board where I post.  I've never been in chat rooms or joined any social networks ... I have been on music and political forums in the past.

I connect with family and friends over email and enjoy things that way.  I can email when I want and and respond when I want to respond.  I would assume that it's the same on most social networks.

As in 'real life' .. I don't follow people and certainly don't want them following me .. LOL

A woman who lived down the block would 'spy' on her husband's Facebook account, get all upset that he connected or reconnected with old girlfriends .. freak out over the likes .. etc.

I can see how it can and does work for people but it's not something that I'm into myself.

I have Facebook, but only check in there maybe between once a week to once a month.

I check in nearly every day, as I have College friends and relatives who are on FB.  There are also VINTAGE Classic Film Boards that I'm a member, where kids don't congregate....(otherwise known as PRE VJ-DAY)  It can be a lot of fun.  I also get the news there, because I'm on the CNN page, as well as the Pages for ABC, CBS and NBC, as well as my local newspaper.

It CAN be a LOT of Fun..   :)

I use Facebook quite a bit, both for personal reasons (connecting with friends, family, etc.), as well as "professional" reasons.

Both of my podcasts have a Facebook page and a Facebook group, so I can connect with my listeners between episodes.
Monster Kid Radio Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/516200188443509/
1951 Down Place Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/307091012635991/

Also, as a writer with some books scheduled for release later this year, I'll be using Facebook quite a bit as well (promotion, etc.).
I podcast, therefore I am . . .

Scary Terry

Very active there. I use it to promote my comic strip and comic book work, as well as connect with friends and family.

I also have a lot of other artists, musicians, etc. as friends, and damn, if they don't post some really cool stuff.

I use it every day & dig it-

I get lots of music, art, lit, comics, toy & vintage roadside America (to name only a few) info
that I'd (otherwise) have to go looking for-

I check in on my kid's families, my family, old high school friends and new friends which is
cool and lots better then them calling on the phone or (gulp) actually coming to my house!

My home town page (where I grew up in the '60s) is really fun - My other home town page
(teen age years in the '70s) isn't as cool, but it's still fun...

And I start every day with 'A Zappa A Day' - in chronological order - (just finishing up '78) ;)

Really can't see why people don't like it-

I'm effectively getting off it..........just don't dig it.

One of the things I've noticed is that once you start mixing UMA friends with your other friends...it can get weird. Topics that aren't allowed on UMA, like religion and politics, can get very heated. Especially if all you know about someone is they love monsters as much as you. Then, you make a political or religious post on FB, and suddenly you're in the middle of WWIII!  That's one of the sometimes unfortunate drawbacks of FB.

It's not the topics to me......I find the layout counterintuitive and aggravating. Ive had many off topic discussions here via PM.Im just a forum guy I guess.
