Or some of the guys here received a sculpt that Mark did himself -- that could be molded and cast up.  And the proceeds could go to his family.  I think it would be cool to use one of Mark's own sculptures, if the owner would agree to let it be molded.
That's another consideration, although I don't know if the casting process might damage the paint. Since these are irreplaceable, I really hate to run any risk of damaging one, even in shipping. What good is $1,000 insurance on one? The money couldn't replace a lost or damaged piece. That's a risk I'm not sure I'm willing to take. Unless someone who has one is willing to cast it themselves, that would be acceptable, to me. Or if they know someone they trust to do it for them. What say you UP sculpture owners?

These are all wonderful ideas. I never received anything from Mark, so I would love to have whatever is produced. I like the idea of a cast of one of Mark's creations with box art of one of Mark's drawings. I even thought of a sculpt of Mark himself with a Bigfoot; that would be so cool! We could do a poll on which sculpt and which drawing we like best, as with the other polls on UMA. I do understand there could be the potential of damaging a sculpt, but whomever has the skills to do sculpting and casting most likely could do it carefully or could fix/restore any damage. If it was my sculpt, I would be honored knowing that Mark's work is going to be produced for his UMA brethren and the proceeds to his family. I believe Mark is smiling down at us and just loving that we are considering all of this!

I like this idea the most. That way Mark's handiwork would commemorate itself.

It would be cool to see Bigfoot with marks facial features on it. Our Unknown Primate was a well loved primate.

Just a thought what about gathering scans of Marks art and including them as trading cards in a deluxe set.

I'm mostly a paper collector myself, & I think this is a great idea!!

Wow!! That seems to be a far more do-able project. I love both ideas!! Sadly, I was born with a talent deficit, so I couldn't help create either. But I can provide images for scans or beasts for molding.

Okay, should we consider doing two separate projects, or combine a figure or statue with a poster or trading cards?

I like the idea of a package of one of Mark's sculpts with a set of cards of his art together. IF anyone is willing to allow one of Mark's sculpts to be molded-it is irreplaceable. I would definitely be willing to lend art to the card set.
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!

This one might be a good candidate for a casting.........only about 6 inches tall.

I've added a poll to the top of the thread. I'd like to get a good consensus of what people want to see before approaching the Stamper family with our idea.

I chose the combo statue and trading cards. It would be nice to have a copy of one UPs original sculptures if possible,if not a sculpt based  on his art would be cool as well. With the trading cards you could combine all of Marks work. All of his drawings and paintings plus you could have cards of his sculptures and action figures ,kind of like a subset.Mark may have left some art he never got around to posting you could include these if the family will let you.I think it would be a wonderful to see some new pieces.

I think the cards and statue should be sold separately and as a combination just to make it affordable.
