Got Godzilla? New release next month
« on: December 26, 2013, 09:46:13 PM »
For those that have not seen it yet. Next month, SH Monster Arts is releasing their new Godzilla 2000 figure. Probably the most highly detailed, articulated Godzilla figure to date. Ironically enough, this figure seems to have many qualities that I have not liked in the past. I like older versions of Godzilla. Do not like purple spikes and am not that big of 6 inch figures. However, this figure pulls these things off incredibly well. I already pre-ordered mine. Normally, I think almost all Godzilla figures are over priced. However, this one seems worth it at the current price of around $75.

Here are some great pics.

Yeah, I only like Godzilla from either 1954 or 1964. These spikes protrude too far out for me.

My favorite is the 1962 version. Second might be the 2000, even with the purple spikes..lol.. I like the large spikes, just not the vibrant purple on some versions. Although I wish this figure was larger, if they made a large, articulated figure with this detail, the price would not be $75, it would most likely be around $700.

A 6 inch figure for $75 plus shipping seems like highway robbery to me. I just got the 18" NECA Gypsy Danger from Pacific Rim which has lights, and my wife said she paid about $80 shipped for him.

I'm hoping we see some 18" scale 2014 Godzilla figures from Neca this year.. THOSE I'll buy.

All Godzilla figures are over priced in my opinion. The $75 for this Godzilla is the cheapest price available. Many places are starting to sell them at $80-$90. I suspect that in 1-2 years, the price will rise, as they all do, to near $100. I had a gift card so I am getting this figure for like $49. Well worth that. Especially for all the articulation.

Now that we'll have a new movie, maybe we'll se some mass market stuff at reasonable prices. Neca is hitting it out of the park on the licenses they've picked up like Gremlins, Robocop, Avengers and Pacific Rim, and they did pick up the us license for Godzilla 2014.

I'm sure we'll see at least an 18" Godzilla. If he does well, odds are they'll do a lot more, like the Predator license.

Any import figures are always ridiculously expensive! I can't afford those SH Monsterarts figures as nice as they are. I am pretty sure Bandai has the license for the new 2014 Godzilla film, but their figures are usually top notch.
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!

Bandai has a hand in this figure. The title they are selling it under is "Bandai Tamashii Nations S.H. MonsterArts 2000 Millennium Version". Probably the longest name for a Godzilla figure ever. lol I got it now while it can be purchased for $75. However, as  I said earlier, I had a gift card, so it was $49.  ;D

I like everything about the SH Monster Arts figure but the purple colour of the spikes. Isn't Godzilla supposed to be green?

 ???

The spikes on the older ones are white and charcoal. On the 2000 version they are purple. I norrmaly don't like it. However, they toned it down quite a bit on this figure.

I always thought his spikes were bluish white. After the new trailer, I'm stoked for Godzilla 2014!

I gotta say, the Monster Arts series is packed with some very impressive figures. However, with that said when I got my first one (regular Godzilla), I was extremely disappointed with the figures size. He was not even 6 inch tall, he was more like 5 and a half. So after him, he became the last of the Godzilla monster arts I ever purchased until King Kong.

King Kong was about the same size, but he was MUCH cheaper. Making him an spectacular purchase for any monster fan. Like another gentleman already pointed out previously in this forum, paying more than 75 bucks on a six inch figure is outrageous. I draw my limit at 50 bucks for that size, but it better be one hell of a figure, which I strongly believe King Kong is.

On the subject of Godzilla, this recently came into my attention:

http://search.toywiz.com/search.php

Available January (most likely early February). It could only be a placeholder date, but if the Robocop reboot action figures are already out for a movie months away. It seems very reasonable that we could get these that soon. I am also a bit confused about the toys getting produced for the new movie. A few months ago Bandai announced a line for the new movie, and just last week Neca also announced one. Honestly, I would FREAKING LOVE a Neca line to go with the Pacific Rim line. They have rocked my world with the Kaijus and Jaegars from that movie...

PS: 70-90 dollars for a monster arts is not the most expensive. Destroyah sells for around 120, King Ghidorah for around 140, and Biollante for around 220 (freaking insane).

Cheers,
R

Yup, prices are insane on these Godzilla figures. I mean some are like $700 to $1000 dollars. That is crazy. The detail on this Godzilla 2000 figure is like nothing I have seen in a 6 inch articulated figure. Also, the link you posted is a general toywiz link. There was no topic. What was there supposed?

Ohh sorry about that! Here is one of the links:

http://www.toywiz.com/tailstrikegodzilla.html

That's just one out of like 7 different toys getting released late January. They are really cheap so I don't expect the detail Monster Arts figures get (not by a long shot). But it would be nice to see the new godzilla design on a toy. Also, I agree the Godzilla 2000 figure looks fantastic. I actually had it on pre-order for the past several weeks on amazon, but then Neca announced their Pacific Rim series 3 line so I decided to spend my money on that. Neca drives a hard bargain when they offer four great action figures at the same price than just the one monster art :p.

I'd like to see a 30" figure like the big Vader at TRU O0
