Mego Stretch Hulk. Let me start out by saying, cool thread. The only toy on the list I ever owned was....Marvel World,
by Amsco.  Although Marvel World wasn't the same scale as my Megos( Worlds Greatest  Super Heroes or Monsters.
I used my Marvel World as a Headquarters and domicile for my Megos, Marx plastic figures and AHI Super Monsters.

My top 15 toy list changes often. So this week, I will choose some great toys that I own from my childhood. Here is my list:

Mattel's/Toho Godzilla(Shogun Warriors)
Kenner 1979 Alien
Mego Spideman
Mego Planet of the Apes General Urko
Ideal Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle
Hasbro G.I. Joe with Kung Fu Grip
Kenner Six Million Dollar Man
Mattel Heroes in Action ( anyone remember these action figures?)
AHI FRANKENSTEIN's Monster
Mego Human Wolfman
Hot Wheels
Ideal Big Jim( Dr. Steel)
AHI MUMMY
Mego Klingon
Mego Thing ( Fantastic Four)

I guess by greatest you mean "greatest" to me!

1. Gumby drawing desk: this was a plastic desk with a light bulb, which came with preprinted sheets of Gumby and Pokey in various poses. You traced these images, making your own scens and colred them. It came with a Gumby eraser as well.
2. Star trek phaser guns: you shot these round discs out f the gun. My brothers and I spent hours shooting these things at each other in our besement.
3. Banana Splits model kit: I was a *huge* Splits fan back then. My mom painted the characters and did an excellent job. Three of them have survived to this day, but the buggy is long gone.
4. Pull string puppets: I had Mr. Ed, Woody Woodpecker, Bozo the clown, etc. We loved these things. Eventually the talk box would quit working, but the puppet was still good.
5. Puzzles: I had a Dark Shadows puzzle, Bugs Bunny, etc. Loved puzzles back then and still do.
6. Sliding tile puzzles: I had several of these, and loved them for car rides. I liked the logic of them. You had to slide the others out of the way to make the tile you needed fit in it's proper home.
7. Stuffed Fleegle dog; I still have him. He went everywhere with me.
8. Gumby: I had several of these. Eventually the wires would stick out and job you but we kept buying them.
9. Hot Wheels: we had track all over the house.
10. Colorforms: I had the Munsters, and many others. When you think about it these were very limited play, but we loved them.
11. Thingmaker: a hot electrical oven, bottles of toxic goo; what's not to love? We made Tarzan, insects, Batman, Superman, etc.
12. Don't remember the name of it, but there was a mold set which after you poured the goop in it would shrink down a bit. My grandma had me make about a dozen Pluto pups for place settings at a party she gave once. I remember painting everyone of those things! LOL!!
13. Board games: Monopoly, Mousetrap, a cool Hanna Barbera one I used to love!
14. Nerf: we had some of the first Nerf balls to come out. You could throw them as hard as you wanted at your little brother and not put a dent in him!
15. Jarts: these were large lawn darts that we loved to throw. Once my brother got one in his foot. I remember being amazed as we watched the blood come out the eyelets in his sneakers1! LOL!!

Huh? How could any of the toys in your list be classified among the greatest toys ever? In order to be anointed with that exalted label, a toy must demonstrate legs, i.e. longevity. I would expect to see toys the likes of these (in no particular order) on such a list:

Crayola crayons
Play-Doh
Barbie
Monopoly
Clue
Candy Land
Trivial Pursuit
Scrabble
Twister
Ideal Mouse Trap
G.I. Joe
Lego
Meccano Erector Set
Wham-O Frisbee
Hula Hoop
Yo-Yo
Nerf Ball
Rubik's Cube
Spirograph
Slinky
Silly Putty
Lionel train sets
Scalextric slot cars
Aurora AFX T-Jets
Hot Wheels
Matchbox cars
Tonka Dump truck
G.I. Joe
Aurora Frankenstein
Great Garloo
Johnny Seven OMA
Chatty Cathy
Cabbage Patch Kids
My Little Pony
Beanie Babies
Easy-Bake Oven
Mattel Creepy Crawlers Thingmaker
Marx Alamo(?) Playset

Here are three books I can recommend on the greatest toys of all-time:

The toys in your list were basically flash-in-the-pan items with no staying power. While they may have been among your favourites at the time, they hardly deserve the appellation "greatest".

We'll one of my favorite TV shows as a kid was "My Mother the Car", a show which shows up on every list of the worst TV shows of all time.  I have no problem with folks listing what thie favorite childhood memories are, no matter how little others regard them.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?
