I have only recently began picking up the diamond figures, and I agree they are far from perfect, but almost all the universal monster toys have a certain charm about them. I appreciate the accessories that these guys come with most of all. I havent picked up the Mutant, but the interocitor is the best part!

On a side note. Anyone know where I can get a color wolf man DS figure? Can't seem to find one anywhere.

Those are very, very rare. Good luck hunting one down.

This is an annual occurrence at the UMA...  The hunt for the DST color Wolf Man.   We've gotten quite used to it.   ;)

I have some of the Diamond Select figures. Wolf Man, Mummy and Creech from TRU and the mego style Franky, Wolf Man and Creech [which i am most impressed with]. They are all still sealed so i can't comment on their durability. I do have a sideshow Creech that i opened for display and the elbow broke immediately.  I glued it back into place and am aware these guys are intended more for us adult collectors and not for kids. Not much of a fan of Diamonds recent TRU line, but am really looking forward to the new mego style Phantom this Fall!

I enjoy their stuff much more than the highly stylized Mezco stuff.

The Mezco KONG and WOLFIE figures are awesome and they get along famously with my McFarlane KONG.   ;D

I was looking at the gallery of Diamond Select figures and couldn't help wonder: why would anyone make a cloth version of THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON?  :o  Such a figure might make sense if it was modeled after THE CREATURE WALKS AMONG US, but it's based on the original movie!  ???

That's exactly why I've only have gotten the Creature thus far.  I may get some other characters, but definitely not their main characters, Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, and even the Phantom of the Opera.  The Phantom's face is too thin to look like Chaney's and the forehead is too high in my opinion.

I myself, am all about wanting figures that have great likeness.  I think Diamond Select's sculpts for the main characters are good, but it certainly isn't outstanding or even excellent.

Its a nostalgia thing. Those figures are in the style of Mego figures, and had Mego made a creeature that is how he would have looked (although I suspect the feet and hands might have been done as gloves). Retooling a figure to make a Creature body is not cheap and Mego would not have gone through the expense of doing it for a single character.

...I mean no disrespect to anyone who likes or has Diamond Select monster figures.  I just think that with the Wolfman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Phantom of the Opera, is it close, but no cigar, unlike Sideshow, who's sculpts were flawless in my opinion.

You know what they say. "This thread is useless without pictures."

Well yeah. But when I do polls and things I put the comparison shots right there front and center for all to see.

The rarity of the color Wolf Man is one of the things that has discouraged me from collecting the Diamond series. You can get a Sideshow 8" Dracula a lot easier than you can a color Diamond Wolf Man.

So, what's the deal with the color WM? It seems to be the only rare one.
