The 1960's Frankenstein 3-Ring Binder
« on: October 13, 2008, 10:04:18 PM »
I had one of these in 5th-6th grade. I really loved it. I used it until it literally fell apart, and never replaced it.

Out of curiosity, what does one these treasures fetch these days? I shudder at the thought... ;)

Someone told me that one in beautiful condition just sold on e-bay but I don't remember for how much it went for. Sorry.

$610 for a minty one.

But...

The most I paid for any of these was $225 for the Dracula, $145 or so for the Wolf Man and $100 for the Frankenstein.  They aren't as nice as that Frankenstein, but I got all 3 for less than the price of that one.

Like all monster toys, condition is EVERYTHING!
This 60s example would fetch little to nothing now that my cat is done playing with it  :o
Best,
Richard

NOTE: This cute cat was NOT punished...the Frankenstein binder (from my junk box) was already in this very sad condition.

$610 for a minty one.

I think that's actually correct for a minty one.  Possibly higher, depending on what "deep pocket" bidders are battling on eBay. I think these are very hard to find unused. Again, condition is everything.
Best,
Richard

Hey, Frank!
Doing fine but restricted to Duluth because of Andrea. Man, I really miss seeing you and all the guys at the conventions! I hope to be back to WonderFest ASAP...again, it all depends on Andrea.
Still looking for a copy of "The Things remain Sketchy" and "Sketchy Things Walk Among Us"  ;)
Best,
Richard

You should frame the art insert.

Huh.  I never knew that those binders were just art inserts in the front cover.

Heck if someone was to scan the art inserts, they could be printed and inserted into new binders...
Presto!  Instant 60's binder!

Is that what Ferry did when he was reselling them in the pages of the new FM?
(I was so very tempted too.)

I have a Ferry binder.  When I bought it, I didn't know what it was.  The  seller was vague about its origins.  It's just a piece of paper inserted into a standard black binder with a clear vinyl pocket.  The Ferry binders were new designs, though.  They were not the same artwork as the 60s binders.  The one I have is a Phantom.

Ferry must have had different producers of these and had different product runs, as my Ferrybinder has no pocket, and the artwork is sealed into the binder, just like the 60s ones.
