I was wondering about the rarity and worth of some of the colors in the spoons...I have a full set of the grey ones and have stumbled on a complete set of orange spoons...I have never actually seen the orange ones in spoon form. I know the yellow are hard to find but I was hoping someone might know something about the orange ones.

Pretty sure he's refering to the red ones!  Yellow is the rarist from what I've seen/read!

I've got an unopened set of eight I-Scream Spoons (four yellow and four red) at auction this week... Zoo-Piks made these:

I think I've seen grey, but red seems to turn up most... yellow are rare?  I haven't seen too many loose spoons to give it much thought... orange, though, I've not seen.
If you want to view Paradise, simply look around and view it.

No, I mean orange...I thought the same thing and I looked at my stirs that are red and there is a definite difference. The Spoons are orange. Here is a picture

I've not seen orange, but that doesn't mean much.   ;)

These may very well be sunbleached red spoons!

That was my thought also. I had a bleached Creature that was pink.

theripper1985

Well, I thought that too about the bleaching, but the spoons are all even in color and no ounce of red at all...these spoons are orange in color.

Good to know...either a rare color, or somebody has the molds/dies. I don't recall ever seeing orange, but I do recall several years ago a load of red ones popping up that just didn't seem right. They seemed thinner and more opaque in color value, and just seemed "new". I was told they were from Dairy Queen or some other ice cream chain. Did all the orange ones come to you at once?

What is the story on the loose white Wolfman spoon? He appears a bit deformed or cockeyed on the spoon. Did he come with the orange ones?

theripper1985

They all came at once...Ive had the grey spoons and the red stirs...but the orange spoons are all identical with the markings and such...they are all stamped with the universal monsters copyright on one side and the Zoo picks USA on the other side...def not a mold or bleached I guess its hard to show online...if only I could show you in person.

The spoons came in red and yellow packaged.  The stirs came only in red and yellow.  The gray and red ones were distributed to restaurants to use as promos for kids in grey and red.  I had a partial case of them at one point, and the case box had some graphics on the outside.

I have not seen orange ones, but I have a hypothesis...

From the photos, that shade of orange looks like a combination of red and yellow. I don't think that orange was a color they were normally made in, I have seen lots over many years, but no orange ones. I think that either by accident or because they were running out of one color or the other, the colors were mixed into the molding machine and some orange ones came out.  Either because someone was running out and decided to add a little of one color to the other in order to get the job done that day, or because someone inadvertently dumped some of one color into the other.

Either way, it didn't matter in the context of manufacturing, if a few went out like that.

My Mummy Spoon is a slightly different shade of yellow than the others.  Just a different shade of plastic that day.

Send me a PM if you have any interest in selling or trading the orange spoons.

Maybe you could take them and photograph them against a white background....or maybe a black background would be better!?  With just one red swizzle stick along the top or bottom of them for color reference?!

theripper1985

That is a great hypothesis, maybe that was the case. Here are some detailed pics and close ups.

Let me know what you all think. They are also stamped universal on the front and zoo picks on the back

I agree! That kind of sloppy manufacturing was not at all uncommon. I have a Krun-Chee Fighting Ship coin here on the upper right of the sheet that's a curious orange colour that I've long thought was a result of some red plastic being mixed into the yellow:

Plus I have an unusual teal coin that looks like it may have been the result of a casual mixing of the green and blue:
