G. De Toro and...Frankenstein?
« on: October 06, 2008, 07:13:04 PM »
Anybody heard a rumor about the Hellboy director doing Universal's Frankenstein.  Not Shelly's novel, but Universal's Jack Pierce monster?  Just curious.  My brother phoned me all excited about it the other day but I don't know where he got his info.

I don't think so... at least not immediately... as far as I know, Guillermo del Toro is going to be busy directing the two "prequels" to THE LORD OF THE RINGS!!!

There has been talk of him doing a Frankenstein, he's a big fan of the monster. I also heard rumours that the universal monsters may appear in Hellboy 3.

I rather hope the UniMonsters do NOT appear in Hellboy 3.  Hellboy 2 took things from action to dark fantasy, without even a hint of horror, not to mention at least two Universal classics were being watched on tv in the film.  I'm all for crossovers (trust me on this one) but I cannot see them being handled effectively in a Hellboy flick.

I agree! I wouldn't mind seeing a punch up between red and our boys, but I don't think there is anyway that you could do them any justice in one film, also I'm a little alarmed by Del Toro's gradual move to  fantasy with the last film and. Pan's Labyrinth.

I'm all for it, and i can't think of a better director for it.   I mean, it's gonna be done anyway... then again, and again etc...  that's Hollywood.   So why not let a genius like Del Toro take a crack at it?

And i'd be cool with HB mixing it up with the monsters...  i mean, it can't be worse than Van Helsing ;)

Hellboy meets Frankenstein? Like first they fight then they make friends or at least develop a mutual respect? Then all hell breaks loose when KIMBO SLICE learns the hard way that three's a crowd! Sorry I missed my meds .
