The Christmas special, I suppose. That's when Clara is leaving. Considering her first full episode appearance was in "The Snowmen", this will mark her third Christmas special appearance.

After the Amy/Impossible Girls of the Matt Smith era, I could do with a regular companion. One that is not the savior of The Doctor/The Universe every week.

Yes, it would be nice to see a companion who was just that. Donna was great until they came up with the Doctor/Donna thing. Not sure if Courtney Woods is going to be the next companion or not. Hopefully, the whole Missy/Promised Land thing gets resolved, so the Doctor can just have cool adventures again.

I'd really like to see a companion along the lines of Jo Grant,  Zoe Heriot, or Sarah Jane.  Smart and confident, yet still reliant on the Doctor.

Well, season eight is over (except for the Christmas Special). Peter Capaldi's first year has been a real rollercoaster ride, giving us one of the most complex, enigmatic versions of the character since William Hartnell's incarnation. It will be interesting to see where season nine takes us.

A couple of Who crossovers, thanks to action figures.

If I can ever find my 3.75" Grinch action figures, you will! ;)

It seems that Missy(The Master) will be returning to menace Capaldi again next season...

Hmmm...I thought it was good for the way the season played out, but I'm not sure about future episodes. I thought they might give The Master/Missy a bit of a rest.

They still have the question of why The Doctor looks like Caecilius & John Frobisher to sort out

This has been confirmed by the actress herself and the production team.
