I finally finished Poltergeist: The Legacy a couple nights ago. I was surprised they went with an end of series episode – that didn’t used to be all that common. Some aspects were a bit forced to get “closure” (in more ways than one!), but it bookended the series really well.

I started on this series a few years ago when Amazon had the first two seasons on Prime. I went through them pretty quickly, but had to settle for Daily Motion afterwards. The experience wasn’t the same: sitting at my desk, watching on the computer, having ad breaks, and sometimes having the image mirrored were all very annoying. After taking months and barely getting through half of Season 3 that way, I finally bought the DVD boxset, and really enjoyed the rest of the series. Moral of the story: don’t be cheap.

I liked the series far more than I expected to. It has its share of weak episodes, and really leaned on the “clip shows” at the end of each season. Seasons 3 and 4 each had two episodes in row (which gets a bit annoying). Other than those, there were probably only 2-3 episodes that I wouldn’t watch again. A few main characters come and go, some returning others forgotten. And not all of the leads appear in every episode, allowing for changing character dynamics. The writing, acting, and FX hold up pretty well 20+ years later. Overall, I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Time to re-visit Grimm; one of my friends is just starting on it (at least that's still on Prime).

Not genre, but I just finished watching the two season run of "Ill Fly Away", the Regina Taylor, Sam Waterston drama.

I have a DVD set taken from a VHS copy that someone made off-air.  I wish this series would be issued on BLU-Ray.

Dark Shadows 1990 series. Watched first three episodes. Because it's only 1990 the show has a real 80s vibe, in terms of costume design, set design, and even the performances. It's like Dynasty with vampires 😄.  I actually like it a lot though. Part of it is nostalgia. I remember watching it in high school. I thought it was so cool that a major network would donate prime time to a horror themed show!! Of course it lasted only 1 season. Too bad. So many horror tv shows now, this version of DS ahead of its time imo. 🧛‍♂️
