I remember seeing them for sale in the 70's when I was too young to afford 'em. 'Amazing they are still around!  8)

Silver Snail Comics in downtown Toronto had a bunch of unsold warehouse stock of these kits for sale in the early eighties. I didn't buy any, because they were cheap snap-together models that were indicative of what I regarded as the dumbing down of model kits in the seventies. I mean serious models require glue, and there was no room for anything so frivolous as a snap-together kit in my collection.

Of course I was the one so dumb as to not have bought several at very good prices for resale at much higher prices today!

 ::)

P.S. There's still no room in my collection though for those dumbed down snap-together kits!

I love me a good snap kit when the subject and sculpt are worthy. Just glue it at the snap joint if it that works for you Hep!  8)

Yeah, but the fact that the kits were made for a pedestrian skill level offended me when they first hit the shelves back in the seventies, and therefore I'm still prejudiced against them. They were wrong!

I guess it's just a matter of taste Hepcat. I never found a problem with any type of kit as long as I liked the subject matter. Be it snap together/ glue together/ or resin...
Can't we all just get Along????? LOL :)    And if we're going to start showing off dinosaur kits....... Here you go snap together and all!!!!!............

I really like your buildups! But from my own standpoint I need more not less rules to try to keep my collections from octopussing even further. I collect too many different kinds of model kits as it is, from Aurora figures to Revell "Big Daddy" Roth figures to Aurora, Hawk and Revell warplanes and warships to AMT and MPC cars. I'll soon be at a practical limit of display space.

I understand where you are coming from Hepcat!!!! When I had my shop, my collection was twice the size it is today. I was going to stop collecting all together. But I decided to keep my collection down to just 1960's and 1970's monster stuff that I either had or really wanted as a kid. And with my Abbott & Costello meets Frankenstein full figure display taking up 1/4 of my collection room I'm limited on space as well. I have only 3 more model kits that I am adding to my stuff and them the models are done. I am planning on building at least 2 more full figures but I got my wife to agree to let them go down in my living room. People like Monster Bob have their whole house full of stuff. I had one friend that built on an extension to his house to make a full scale Hammer films Frankenstein's laboratory. I just can't do that!!!! I collect stuff for the memories it brings back. That's why I don't by any new toys that come out. I've got enough of that kind of stuff sitting in storage waiting for the value to go up to be sold. So stick to your guns my friend!!!! Just wanted to point out that the snap together kits aren't all that bad.

I have plenty of room in my collection for Monster Scenes. Snap together, glue together, or rubber band together. :angel: ;)

Missdead's house is absolutely packed with wild stuff as well and Frankenstein73 has an entire separate house for his collectibles!

You bet! That's what it's all about for me as well. The problem is that I liked so many different things as a kid, and I have a very good memory. So I still want them all!

I understand the concept of having to "draw the line" on what you collect though. Space is an issue. But I couldn't draw the line at Monster Scenes. The lab and Frankenstein were dreams come true for me. >:D

Stellar paint jobs on those kits, Anton! Vampi almost has an anime vibe to her.

Shelf space...the bane of the collector!  The scale and detail on the Prehistoric Scenes critters was so amazing, especially compared to those dino kits from Lindberg.  (Although their Stegosaurus was a decent little model.)
