Finally got one of the missing pieces to my collection. I had all three as a kid but this was my favorite image.

Holy Crap!!!! Awesome. Do you mind if I ask how much that set you back?

Finally found the companion piece to my Monogram '79 T-rex. Took a while. Box needs cleaning for sure but pieces are still in bags with instructions. Hopefully, I can get the box more display worthy.

Well it arrived and after three hours cleaning and restoring, I am satisfied with it as a display piece. Not sure what animal or sewage waste was on that box but it came off. Had to touch up underneath as whatever crap that was stripped the ink off.

Again. Not able to post photos of my weekly finds.
However, I did find some super neato collectibles.

Planet of the Apes, Cornelius-Addar model kit(1973)
Talking Freddy Krueger-Matchbox (1989)
Talking Cryptkeeper-Spencers Gifts (1998/99?)

What process/techniques did you use to clean and restore the box?

A 50/50 mix of baking soda & white vinegar like a tablespoon each. Then warm water to mix in a spray bottle. Lightly mist and immediately wipe with a soft cloth. After drying repeat as necessary. You may have to wipe with plain water on cloth after if there is a haze from baking soda left. Key is light spray and then wipe. For small stubborn spots, I used a q-tip  that was moistened with the solution. I used acrylic model paints to touch up box. Once covered with shrink wrap the touched up areas blend nicely. Definitely displayable now. It was a leap of faith but for a 40year old beat up box it worked like a charm. The solution wont erase existing water stains but faded them some imo.

What did you fill the box with before shrink wrapping? I have a couple of boxes (that  want to display) that have caved in tops and thought about filling them with a snug fitting piece of Styrofoam and then shrink wrapping.

In this case I used shrink wrap but taped it only. Didn't apply heat.  I got a tight wrap which is good enough for a shelf piece. You can always use cut cardboard on edge in a W pattern instead of a big piece of foam. I have the model in the box so just left it as is. If I was using heat, I would go with double stick tape on the joints at the overlap as to not have tape touch the box.

Here's a small find I just received.

This 3" Button/Pinback from The House of Frankenstein, Lake George, New York was made by Best Seal, New York, 1979.

It must be scarce.  I think it is only the 2nd I've seen for sale in the over 20 years I have been collecting.  The other went for an insane price many years ago.  I felt quite lucky when I snagged this one for $15.00 in an eBay Buy-It-Now with two other little junk items.

The button designer must have liked the Aurora Frankenstein Model graphics.

I love the BIN when the seller doesn't realize how much his item is worth!  ;D  You've got to be lucky and see it early, though.

It's crap for the other collectors who have the item show up in their Watch List e-mails.  They get all excited and click on the link, just to find out that the auction has already ended.

I wonder how many guys cussed me out anonymously that day?

It's a magical moment when you find that one special item you have always wanted but was out of your reach on ebay super cheap. I found something I wanted as a kid on ebay for $15.50 and with free shipping. It is the Tardis Tuner radio I saw every week for 4 years and didn't buy. One day, I came in with the money and it was gone. 20 years later and after dozens of ebay losses on the item that always went for between $200 and $400 I found it as a Buy It Now super cheap.

That few moments it too to enter my paypal info in and get confirmed seemed like an eternity.

I know that feeling.  Two specific times that happened to me stand out in my memory:

The time I found an almost perfect Clinton Frankenstein Bucket for $49.99 with $13.40 for shipping.

The time I found a purple ABG Frankenstein Pencil Sharpener for $8.50.  Funny thing was that the seller listed it correctly, made a huge deal out of stressing how "RARE" the sharpener was and even included five or six lovely close-up pictures of the great condition it was in.  Then he lists it for a B-I-N of $8.50 - with free shipping!

On both items, I was so nervous that I kept mis-typing as I tried to sign in to eBay, grab the item and sign in again on PayPal.  The pencil sharpener had been listed so long I felt someone MUST be doing the same thing just seconds ahead of me.

Dumb luck can be very kind sometimes.

I picked up the USPS Universal Monster stamp portfolio super cheap because the seller listed it as "Local pick-up Only, No Shipping". I contacted him to verify that this wasn't the case, but he never changed the listing. Nobody (but me) bid on it!
