I've had this a little while, but just started trying to fix it this weekend.

I saw the pieces on the ground after a windstorm while walking the dog. Three days later they were still there, so I figured they were just going to have another one made (which they've done). I dowled it together--thinking of using sculpy to repair the missing pieces.

Sweet!! That would SO be hanging in my movie room!! BTW, Nancy and I have decided that we shall no longer pronounce the word "cemetery" as "ˈsemə-teri ". We shall henceforth and forthwith pronounce it properly as " semətri ". It has so much more horror atmosphere to it.

Jordan finds it rather strange. But we feed him so he knows enough to keep his yapper shut.

Just my opinion but I'd say no sculpy needed...leave it cracked and chipped!

I'd do that if it was old, but (and I don't know if you can tell from the pics), it's molded high-density foam, not carved wood. I just feel the exposed foam looks a little cheesy. And brand new.

You could always paint the chips to look like stone or wood was underneath.

You could weather it to make it look older, but the foam should be sealed to prevent deterioration. Or instead of sculpy which needs to be cured in an oven, try an epoxy putty like Aves or Magic Sculp or Milliput which will harden in place.

That is such a cool, creepy find. Would look great as a Halloween graveyard sign.

I finally picked up the final King Kong glass I needed to finish my set:

I didn't start out to collect these, I just kept stumbling across them for cheap over the last year and a half, so I finally broke down and finished the set. I think I paid under $20.00 for the set.

Yep, Hoppy. I be a fan. I wrote an article on him for "Alter Ego" magazine years ago.

Well, a bit about me to set up this post.  I am an elementary school teacher and have been for 17 years.  Over the past 12 or so I have been teaching 4th grade.  Each and every day is a true blessing to work with kiddos and I truly love what I do.  With this comes the annual Halloween Party, which some have named Harvest Festival, etc....  However, three years ago our principal called for a door decorating contest to coincide with the parties.  This gave me a chance to introduce to many of my students the Universal Monsters.  I put them into teams of two or three and asked them to create 3-D heads of the monsters.  We pulled various pics from the web and they had a blast.  Here are their creations, which I found while cleaning out my room this year before summer break.  They are about 16 inches in length.  Made the pics large so you see the students' detail.:

And even Dracula's Daughter made the cut:

And for what its worth, we took first prize.  Our door read simply: Old School

Usually I return all the work that the kiddos did, but this time I asked if I could keep their creations.  They were pleased that I wanted them for my house.  I will be hanging them up in my Monster Nook in the next few days and glad to finally have them home.

That is great Bogey!!!!  I love it!  It's awesome that the kids got into the Universal Monsters, and hopefully they will stay with it!
Long live the UMA!
