Screen Used Wolf Man Cane?
« on: November 02, 2021, 03:03:49 PM »
This seller claims this was given to his Aunt by Lon himself 50 years ago.  Could this really be the screen used cane???

The only person that could tell you, for sure, is dead. I wouldn't pay a fortune for it.

I would suggest asking Bob Burns.

the screen used cane???

I own one of the fine replicas produced by Wolfshead Productions and it looks exactly like the seller's,
right down to "the wood part of the cane as it is black with light streaks of brown".

I could be wrong, and may have my memories jumbled, but wasn't the actual screen used cane actually a dense rubber of some sort, and not actual metal? Bob Burns would know. Actually, our own Dr. Shocker might know. He's really up on stuff like this to if memory serves.

That could have been a stunt cane, for beating werewolves?

Possibly. My memory is not as sharp on little details like this as it used to be.

Mystery solved. Burns owns the original screen prop, so whatever this is...it ain't that.

Obviously not the exact same one, But there were often duplicates made of props, costumes, etc. The one in the auction doesn't have that shiny chrome look that the repro has.

For some reason, I remember Bob Burns stating in a video that the wolf head was made of vulcanized rubber.

This is good timing: I just ordered a new replica...

https://www.factoryent.com/The-Wolfman-Cane-Limited-Edition-Prop-Replica-p/408909.htm

"Chrome plated brass."  Too bad it is not also offered in silver plated brass.  Silver has a warmer, less glaring look.

I'm not crazy about the teeth.

They look less canine than other examples I have seen:

Oh, I can live with that. And maybe I'll just melt down my mom's antique silverware when it arrives and plate it myself...
