Since reviews mention gog and magog, I figured this was the one not on the poster.

gog and magog are, as you would expect, twins.

Just how much time HAVE you spent in the dark during your lifetime?

Is that counting my journey to the center of the Earth?

On Broadway, New York City:

The Day the Earth Stood Still - RKO Mayfair - New York City - September, 1951.  - Partially seen at he far right is the RKO Palace.

(If a "One Sheet" poster is 27 in. x 41 in. and a "Two Sheet" is twice that size, How many a "Sheeter" is this thing?)

AND...

The War of the Worlds - RKO Mayfair - New York City - 1953

(Too bad these photos weren't in color.)

You didn't get them from National Screen Service, that's for sure! I don't know where they would get some of these gigantic displays? They were only seen in the biggest cities. Maybe just the very biggest!

Today, all these films would be shown (without such fanfare) in one twenty mini theaters in the multiplex. Such a shame.

I think like these little Main Street postcards better than the huge displays - More like what I remember:

Haunted Strangler & Fiend without a Face - Loew's - White Plains, New York - 1958.

Another Main Street postcard.  Sci-Fi playing 2nd feature to a western:

A Day of Fury  &  Earth vs. the Flying Saucers - Walden, New York - 1956.

The prop on the back of this truck would make a nice companion piece to ToyRanch's "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man" heads.

Bride of Frankenstein  &  Princess O'Hara - Orpheum - Omaha, Nebraska - 1935.

The Orpheum  theater is still there, it hosts mostly broadway plays. Phantom of the opera, lion king, wicked, etc... It is quite amazing and beautiful inside, very ornate. It would have been amazing to see Bride in that theater!
Mirabile dictu,don't you agree?
