Coincidentally Beggars Banquet by the Stones was released fifty years ago yesterday! I was there to buy it at Bluebird Records on Dundas Street in London within days of its initial release.

The interior gatefold photo is among the best pieces of rock imagery ever:

Here are two of my favourite tracks from the LP:

Jig-Saw Puzzle

Stray Cat Blues

How can one go wrong with Joy Division. Incredible band and music. R.I.P., Ian Curtis.

I truly miss shopping at Amoeba Records.

It's the greatest place. If you're ever in L.A., let me know. I'll meet you there and go out for drinks or something.

I use to frequent Amoeba, quite often. The last time I went was in 2012, before going to Monsterpalooza. I definitely miss going. Maybe some day.

Joy Division was such GREAT post punk band. It really sucks how the late great Ian Curtis commited suicide, like what almost 39 years ago. That evolved into another GREAT but different band of the 80s-90s New Order. Alot of people think the 80's SUCKED for music but with bands like New Order,Depeche Mode Skinny Puppy,Godflesh,Slayer,Metallica,The WHOLe Black Metal Death Metal scene picking up etc etc ,How can you not get it that the 80's were a WHOLE turning point in music and VERY important. Aside from "maybe" the 60's with rock and various styles being a KEY turning point, I have to say that the 80's were HUGE in transition. BTW,speaking of Joy Division, can't forget Sisters of Mercy. If not for Joy Division, not sure if there would be any S.O.M. Just a thought.
