Hmm, I've always had a soft spot for "Destroy All Monsters" and "Godzilla Vs. Hedorah", neither of which made your list. I've actually been actively filling in gaps in my Godzilla DVD collection lately so I've been watching a lot of kaiju action the last month or so.

I've been a fan of the Godzilla movies and kaiju in general since I was a little kid.
I just love 'em all.

That would probably be my pick as well.

Godzilla Vs. Megalon is still my favorite because it was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw. Second movie in a theater that I ever saw as well. Loved Jet Jaguar in that one.

Every damn one ever made!!  Can't choose.  Love Japanese Kaiju period!!!

The Spangler

I don't see KING KONG vs GODZILLA on that list!

Destroy All Monsters is one of my Favorites too!  Love all the Godzillas and Gamera's!

Only "Destroy All Monsters" has withstood the test of time for me. Although the Godzilla DVD that had the Japanese original version "Gojira" was a bit of a revelation to me as well. It was really quite good.

I gotta vote for one that's not on the list...

Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster

I don't know if it's the cool monster, the song, or what. But it's also my most nostalgic Godzilla movie. It seemed to be played on tv in Chicago several times a year, for years on end.

Most all of the movies made "before 1970," I think are fantastic.  A couple of them stand out in my mind... "Monster Zero" has a crazy storyline and a great look, and "Vs. the Sea Monster" has a fine adventure feel.

I think of the original film as separate from the rest of the series, in a way.  The sequels that followed it went off in totally different directions and the first film is entirely serious, grim allegorical drama.
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

From your poll, Godzilla: King of the Monsters...

I also really like Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack from 2001. That was excellent.

"Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster" is the alternate title for "Gojira tai HedorĂ¢" (Godzilla vs. Hedorah), so it actually is included in the poll.

I think he added that after I had already voted. There were originally fewer options to choose from.
