Need Help Finding a Book

Hello all!  I have been trying to find a book from the late 70s for a long time.  I posted a request on a book finder website with no luck a few years ago, no luck.  I hope the army may be able to help! 

This is what I remember:

The book was a monster catalog type book.  black and white pictures line style that looked like Gahan Wilson art.  Very simple.  it was half sized so maybe 8x8 1/2.  The paper was very flimsy, not pure white, more like off white newsprint.  There were probably 20-30 monsters in the book and on one side of the open book was the picture, and on the other side of the open book was a short paragraph on the mythology or story of the monster.  I vaguely remember one creature was some kind of humanoid that dwelled in a lake.  The picture on that one was basically a head half submerged up to the eyes.  That was about the extent of the picture on that one. 

It may have been a local legends type book.  I got it on a trip to Michigan, Mackinaw Island, 1978.

I hope someone can help.  This is the last missing relic from my monster youth.  Its that missing piece that nags at the back of my brain every now and then.
