The Outer Limits Intro

This was a show that I'd read about more than I'd actually seen growing up. Fortunately, cable tv came along and remedied that problem for me. Still, because airings of the show were such a rarity in my neck of the woods growing up, the show, even today, still has this wonderful air of mystery about it for me.

With that in mind, I thought that starting a thread on this classic show would be fun. So, to get the ball rolling, I thought I start my listing my favorite "bears" from the show,

1) The Zanti Misfits

2) The Architects of Fear

3) The Mutant

Favorite episodes,

1) Don't Open til Doomsday

2) Tourist Attraction

3) The Invisible Enemy.

I really enjoy the original Outer Limits, not a real big fan of the new show.  Growing up I was able to see many of the old shows and I always remembered The Imvisible Enemy with the "sand shark".  The Zanti Misfits is a favorite as well as Nightmare.  I think my favorite episode is The Hundred Days of the Dragon.  I have a few episodes at home, I'm looking to get the whole series.

Some places have had them as low as $9.99 per volume (3 volumes in all). I think Walmart was one of those. They're really worth having.

I actually prefer The Outer Limits to TZ...........I like MONSTERS. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE TZ. But OL has..........you know.......MONSTERS.

Scatter, I couldn't agree more! Twilight Zone is classic and wonderful, but Outer Limits had a monster almost every week....how could it be any better?

I was always surprised by just how bleak most OL episodes were, The Man Who Was Never Born, for instance. Can't imagine that level of pessimism on a network show today.

Well, TZ had a few monsters.....and lots of Burgess Meredith, that's kind of horrifying  ;D
Supernatural, perhaps; baloney, perhaps not.

I wouldn't want to pick Outer Limits over Twilight Zone, but I have no problem picking Twilight Zone over Twilight.  It has been said that Outer Limits had more bears in it, then Jellystone Park!

Anyone ever notice that Coppola took Col. Kurtz's famous last words, "The horror, the horror..," from the OL episode The Mutant.

Loved the original Twilight Zone AND the original Outer Limits.

I have both complete series on DVD.  It is nice to have my own marathon on holidays when the tube isn't playing anything I particularly want to see.

The Outer Limits have monsters in every episode because the network demanded it (due to the popularity of monsters in the 60's). The producers wanted to make some episodes without monsters but had their arms twisted (lucky for us).

TZ was more of a fantasy show. Relatively few of the eps are true sci-fi. OL was always sci-fi! I also think OL actually took more chances. Some of the eps, especially the ones Stefano had something to do with are downright bizarre and nightmarish. It also looked great.

More proof we were separated at birth. I get so much flack when I tell people I like OL better than TZ. I honestly don't think OL was any less thought provoking or deep than TZ. And...it had monsters....

Besides TZ and OL, I loved the old "One Step Beyond", where they would dramtize some strange things that happened in the recent and not so recent past.
