Watched Burt Gordon's "King Dinosaur" (1955) on YT for the first (and let's face it, only) time. Two couples (I mean 4 scientists) take off for a new planet, which strangely enough, looks exactly like Earth. The alien fauna look very much like bears and owls and snakes and photographically enlarged Iguanas (which the guys think are T-Rexes). Takes a long time (the movie is only 1:03) to get to the dinos, but the lizard fights don't save the movie. Oh yeah, they brought an A-Bomb with them, you know, just in case. And you know they're not gonna bring something like that and not use it, so they do! Lots of stock footage and library music.

Never seen it, before, so I watched "Valley of the Dragons" (1961) on YT. Very loosely based on Verne's "Off on a Comet". Very low budget, with lots of stock footage (from "1,000,000 B. C." and even "Rodan") and borrowed jungle sets. It felt long at 83 min.

Yes, Mike - but there's a very memorable scene worth the price of admission. Surely you noticed, lol.

And ya gotta love the ship flying horizontally in the sky before landing backwards. This one has a nostalgic place in my heart, because I first saw it when UHF had just come to the Philly area. That was late '65 I think. I had a converter box similar to this on the 19" B&W portable in my bedroom. Yes, my parents spoiled me, lol.

Where would no budget sci-fi be without that V2 stock footage.  :)

We were still a one TV (b/w) family in '65.  :)

All Hallow's Eve the other day.  Wasn't great.  I actually laughed at how bad the aliens were.

Island of Terror

I had a hard time taking the monsters seriously when they start making slurping noises while they're sucking the bones out of people.  Some fun stuff in this one though.

Makes a good double feature with "Night of the Big Heat"!  :)
