Frankenstein's Bloody Terror (1968) (aka The Mark Of The Wolfman)  7.5/10

Waldemar Daninsky is born (and so is Paul Naschy for that matter). Sam Sherman brought this little gem to America, albeit a bit twisted with the Frankenstein cheat, and we got our first exposure to what would become the Golden Age of Spanish Horror in the '70s.

Between Two Worlds, 1944 - A group of people in an English port town are caught in a Nazi bombing raid and find themselves on a fog-bound ocean liner, without memory of when they boarded or where they are bound.

Stars John Garfield, Paul Henreid, Sydney Greenstreet, Eleanor Parker and Edmund Gwenn.

Sweet fantasy typical of the time, this is a remake of 1930's "Outward Bound" starring Leslie Howard.  Both were staples of 1950's Saturday morning TV.  Plays like an extended episode of "The Twilight Zone".

I really like this movie - both for its nostalgic value, and for its own narrative merit.

The Aftermath, 1982 - Three astronauts, returning to earth from a lengthy deep space mission, are unable to establish radio contact. They crash land and nobody comes to their aid.  One of them is lost.  After an overnight hike and a brief clash with zombies (who never show up again), the remaining two arrive at Los Angeles only to find it in ruins and deserted.

Stars Sid Haig, Lynne Margulies, Steve Barkett, Christopher Barkett, Alfie Martin and Forest J. Ackerman.

Director/star Steve Barkett's influences will be obvious to UMA members.  Very low budget production.

Never saw this one when it was in theaters.  Glad to finally catch it on the nicely restored 2017 Blu-Ray.

Island of Terror, 1966 - On a small, remote island off the coast of Ireland, in a cave, a farmer's body is discovered.  All of the man's bones are missing, leaving him a shapeless puddle of a mass.  Attempts at unraveling the mystery will unveil more similarly deceased.

Stars Peter Cushing, Edward Judd and Carole Gray.

Considerably more convoluted than the thin description above would indicate, but that should be enough to wet your appetite for this film.

Low budget, but different enough to be engaging - and it's got Peter Cushing.

Two Evil Eyes, 1990 - Two separate stories:  1. Dying man's wife and physician plot to steal his fortune using hypnosis, with complications.  2. Crime scene photographer and his girlfriend's cat don't get along, with complications.

Stars Adrienne Barbeau and Harvey Keitel.

Adaptions of the two Poe classics "The Facts In the  Case of M. Valdemar" and "The Black cat".

George Romero directed "Valdemar" and Dario Argento directed "Black Cat".  The adaptions are both familiar and just different enough to be interesting.

If you enjoy seeing yet another interpretation of some of the most re-made Poe short stories (I do), you'll probably like these.
