Anybody Else See Ted and Magic Mike
« on: June 29, 2012, 06:25:42 PM »
Went to the AMC for the Midnight Showings of Ted And Magic Mike, The Theater was packed, they had each movie in 3 Theaters, Ted was sold out in all 3, So I Saw Magic Mike at Midnight and I saw Ted Today. Overall both Movies were Pretty Good, Ted was Funnier and for Magic Mike 80 percent of the people were girls that were seeing it. So if you like the Foul Mouth raunchy Comedies See Ted, I Give Both Movies a 8/10

I saw Ted tonight. Was a bit dismayed to find it was a weird romantic comedy, which is generally my most despised genre of movie, but in spite of that I was amused by it. I thought it was going to be a horror movie of sorts, and it was not that. There were multiple laugh-out-loud moments though, and I'd recommend a rental at least. It is not a movie that will have much staying power, as it had numerous pop culture references and will be irrelevant in 5 years and may be incomprehensible in 20. For now, check it out.

Isn't Magic Mike about male strippers?

Yup. Nothing worse than having to hear your mother spend the whole summer talk about 50 Shades of Gray and wanting Magic Mike to come out in 4D -_-

I'll pass on "Magic Mike", but I am looking forward to seeing Ted.  Last night on the soup, two of the cast of Ted were there.  Joel McHale (who hosts) and Patrick Warburton playing "Gay Uncle Sam".

Saw Ted last Saturday with my son.  he liked it, I didn't care for it.  I gave it a 4.  I all fairness to the movie, my daughter loved it and my son thought it was ok, he gave it a 6. So I can only assume it is an age thing. Seeing Sam J. Jones from Flash Gordon was weird. They made him out to be a has been really bad.  The reference of how bad Superman Returns was made me rate the film from a 3 to a 4.

Now if only it weren't true. :( *le sigh*

But yeah, I have no desire to see either film, but from the red band trailer, the Thunder Song was pretty friggin' funny. I'm not sure, I will probably rent it when it comes out on video.

Also, 100th post! :)

Me- "hey, what's that Shades of Grey book that everyone keeps talking about??"
My 31 year old daughter- "Oh good lord! Shades of Grey is a book I read in middle school, you're thinking of 50 Shades! And you don't need to read it!"
So I looked up the description on Wikipedia, and she was right......I would just get angry.
Anyway, I DO know what Magic Mike is about. I have seen every interview, it seems, with that guy that was in GI Joe with the delightful name. I will probably NOT see it because it seems like I will not enjoy it. And I'm not a Matthew McConaghay (however you spell it) fan. He makes me nervous and he's too sinewy.
So my previously mentioned daughter and I were discussing a list of people we would enjoy seeing in a stripper movie, and I listed--- Goliath from the show Gargoyles, Machoke (the Pokeman character) and Race Bannon. She was disturbed and ended our discussion.  :(

Ooooh! I forgot about him!  :)  Race Bannon is a real dream boat, so my mind wandered off after hearing that thumping music in my head.

1) Saw Ted and I loved the film, but I found it disturbing how many people brought small children. I don't think I'm prudish but a 7 year old child should not see that film.

2) Saw Magic Mike and I enjoyed that as well BUT I think it missed the mark a bit. I think it should have been lighter and focused more on the action in the club. I didn't really feel the film resolved anything, and although they started to show a bit of the dark side they just glossed over it in the end. Still, a fun afternoon. I hear, not kidding, they are thinking of making it into a Broadway musical. THAT is something I wanna see!

I greatly enjoyed Ted, and was glad it was Rated R.  That should have been a clear sign that it wasn't a children's film., and I didn't see any kids at the show I went to. Of course, "House of a Thousand Corpses" was rated R, and some idiot parents brought kids to that one, when we saw it playing in SoCal .
