What's Up with XOFACTO's Website?
« on: June 10, 2012, 05:35:13 PM »
Okay, for YEARS (and I mean YEARS NOW) XOFACTO 's website has been down. Every issue of Amazing Figure Modeler Magazine has an ad for their website and their site has said for years, due to a family matter the site is down but will be up and running soon. Does anyone know if XOFACTo will ever re-open and why in the hell do they advertise if they have no store?

Don't know if it's still the case, but John was still around as of about a year ago on this very site, & helped me with a query I'd had at the time. Good guy. John, hope you are still hanging out on UMA & hear us talking about you.

John's still around and posts quite often. Sending him a PM might have been a bit more tactful.

In those ads, John also gives his email address, postal address and phone number, so maybe try one of those. John seems to visit here fairly regularly, so I guess he will explain things.

He is super good people. He presently is taking care of his elderly mother(last I heard) and that takes priority over resin goonies. Shoot him a pm...he will email you back. He might even call you if you are a past customer and he has your contact information. He's aces in my book for character and not just great resin boogey men..  ;)

I guess I’m not getting what the big deal is here,   As for “why in the hell do they advertise if they have no store?”  First, it's not they, it's me.  I'm a one man show.  I’m selling the kits you see in the ads.  If you see something in an ad you want to order all you have to do is use the phone number or the email address to place an order.

As for the website...  It’s been closed for three and a half years.  The reason, three and a half years ago I moved my 90 year old mother from IL. to CA.  Her health had really deteriorated and it looked like she might soon be on her death bed.  She wasn’t getting the kind of care she needed in IL. so I brought her here.  Since then I’ve been her full time care giver.  Unless you’ve had to take care of an elderly person, you don’t realize how much time and energy it takes.  I realized that I couldn’t handle doing all the photography, page rewrites updates and orders for the website and still give my mother the kind of care she needed.  So, something had to go.  It was the website.  Marie is now 93 years old and still doing okay.  So I guess I must have done something right.   I think if I hadn’t moved her to CA she’d have been dead by now.

I hope that explains it to you.

John has always been great to deal with.  He goes out of his way to make sure everything is right.

I completely understand about him caring for his mother.  Mine is almost 84, has been house-bound for more than four years.  Fortunately, she lives next door, and is a bit independent.  However, I have to do all of her grocery shopping, yardwork and the miscellaneous repair work.  She has someone who can take her to her doctors' appointments as my wife and I still work full-time.

It's not easy; John has my respect.

Amen!  John has my respect as well.  My mom is 91 an I had to move her to an assisted living facility this past Dec.  I know how hard it is to take care of an elderly parent.

John deserves mad respect for sure. Sacrifice is the measure of character.......and all of us who have been in that position know how incredibly difficult that situation is.

Wanna get away?

Yeesh.  John, many, many well wishes sent to you and your mom.  You're a prince of a man doing what I'm sure is the only thing in your mind that you should do. Taking care of her.

My folks are in their 70s and I know that my wife and I will be the kids taking care of them and so we plan with them/ this in mind.

Peace.

Just lost my Mother in February John; hang in there and remember, "There is no greater love than to give one’s life for a friend." I can't think of a greater friend in my life than my Mother or Father and giving care for a sick parent is totally consuming.

We have to come to realize in this life that we aren't going to be remembered or judged by how many kits we cast but by what we have done for others.

You're a good man, take care of your Mother.

I found in situations like these, you only have ONE chance to do it right.  You can't go back and try it again.  I found that out when my father in law was dying of cancer.  My wife was unbelievable the way she took care of her father until the second he passed away.
John Tucky is doing it right, not because he is supposed to, but because it is in his character.
Iv'e bought a ton of kits from Mr. Tucky and when I spoke to him on the phone he always took the time to speak with me about the models and the business, even though he was probably very busy at the time.  He didn't rush the conversation to get off the phone and you could tell he was a genuine, decent person.
