I forgot to post this, great cover!

Always loved Don Newton's take on The Phantom.  A shame he left us so soon.

Does anyone else think he used the Revell model kit as a model for this one?

^Wouldn't surprise me! Newton was known to cosplay, so using a model for reference for him wouldn't be out of the question.

I was so saddened to read he died in Dick Giordano's Meanwhile column back in the 80s. For me he was THE Batman artist of my early youth. He is definitely under-appreciated!

Jimm, those strips are AWESOME! Where you get them in first place? From flea market, online sales or some place?

Sorry not to be contributing to this and various other "appreciation" threads.  I have been loving seeing the cool collectibles that all you guys are sharing. But I've been overwhelmed with BS that's keeping me from getting much done. We've been fighting a running battle with our central air -- currently out of commission, for the third time in a month.  And my laptop is on the fritz -- backlight not working --so now hooked up to a separate monitor as I limp along with it until I can raise the dough for a replacement.  The fix would be nearly the cost of a new computer, so I figure why throw good money at an old machine  That said -- here's a link to a Phantom art sale post on my blog -- meant to go toward the new computer.  Hope it's OK to post here as it's linked to the thread's subject.

That truly would have been one of the most outstanding of all the Aurora models! Very very well done!

There were plans to issue a limited number of resin copies of the kit prototype (as was done with the Aurora Metaluna Mutant prototype) -- but apparently not enough folks signed on to make it happen.  I couldn't scrape together the dough at the time. The Action Hobbies garage kit is based on this design -- and quite nice -- but a different sculpt.
