Addams Family appreciation thread!
« on: May 26, 2012, 02:31:07 PM »
The Addams Family is another enormously popular pop culture icon. From Wikipedia:

Quote from: Wikipedia
The Addams Family is an American television series based on the characters in Charles Addams' New Yorker cartoons. The 30-minute series was shot in black-and-white and aired for two seasons on ABC from September 18, 1964, to April 8, 1966, totalling 64 episodes.

The show spawned a coterie of toys and other collectibles. Here's a photograph of my Aurora Addams Family Haunted House model kit:

I love The Addams Family! The show, the strips, the movies - it's all great! When my wife and I got married we decided to take "Addams" as our last names instead of taking either of our surnames.
I'll be surfin' in your blood on a Saturday night!

I enjoyed both the television show and the flicks.

I always enjoyed Charles Addams' drawings and the TV show. I have some Addams' stuff like a few books and magazines and this card game...

and this puzzle...

And this record with Vic Mizzy's great music...

And this View-Master set, which has color pictures of the Addams Family in it, which was probably an exciting thing to see having mostly seen them
in black and white on TV...

And I have a reproduction of the Haunted House model kit that Hepcat posted above. (Nice original!)

This is a reproduction of a model sheet that HB provided animators for the Addams Family RV which was in the 1973 series, which included Ted Cassidy and Jackie Coogan reprising their roles from the live action series.

Addams is sort of my specialty (Munsters, too), besides the vintage monstuh toy thing. I used to write back and forth to Charles Addams at the New Yorker as a kid. I grew up in a huge 120-something year old victorian house filled with era antiques. The victorian influence crossed over onto my adult life (BTW, bugs the hell out of me when the Addams are referred to as "goth" these days. At least in the old series, they were victorian). Lastly, my own decorating taste was heavily influenced by the TV house interior. Oh, and I collect authentic props from the show... http://tinyurl.com/7gflsdz

I'm with Bob when it comes to the Addams family.   The Addams Family is a huge part of the reason, I always wanted to live in a Victorian home, and I now live in the house seen in my avatar.  When they brought the "Addams Family" musical to Durham, NC, I made a point in seeing it.    Unlike a certain remake of a daytime soap I could mention, I really liked how they handled Charles Addams' creation.

Super cool props Bob. Love the Addams Family. My middle name is Adams, perhaps I'll add the second "d"  8)
