I don't listen to it but my wife swears by Pandora, you can make recommendations based on your music choices, essentially eliminating any songs/bands you don't like!
Hey, I'm no longer moderated.........that might not be such a good thing!!

Yes that is a excellent one. The other one I like a lot is www.last.fm . Depending on who it is, you sometimes can find even newer/upcoming artists than you would on pandora. Plenty of good sites out there, but I would first and foremost, highly recommend either of these two. Good stuff and good luck !

I don't know about streaming stations, but I totally gave up on Terrestrial radio, I moved and got Siriusxm satellite radio in January 2011 and it's so much better. They have tons of great channels for music, sports, news, talk radio, etc. I have the top package which contains over 140 channels and it's the best decision I have ever made. I will never go back to regular radio ever. Some channels that are great are classic vinyl, classic rewind, and the boneyard which feature classic rock, 70s rock, and heavy metal, they also have 60s on 6, 70s on 7 which feature great bands/artists, there are so many channels to choose from on there

Siriusxm satellite radio is the best! way better than anything else

I've had mixed luck with Pandora--some channels you set up work okay, other times they seem to mix in artists who were popular the same time as the root artist(s), but otherwise unrelated.

Been using the free version of Spotify quite a bit--let's you pick and choose entire albums. Like Pandora, though, I don't totally get their "related artists" sometimes.
