Andy Griffith's Goober (George Lindsey) passed away at 83 after what was termed a 'short illness'.  RIP.

While he may not have been a Universal monster actor, he was part of our lives.
George Lindsey was a heck of a guy. Very active in promoting the Special Olympics and other good causes. His gentle wit made him an icon around Mayberry and on HeeHaw.

I'll miss ya, Goob!

While he may not have been a Universal monster actor

Though he did have a brush with fantasy in the Twilight Zone episode "I Am the Night - Color Me Black".

Losing any of that original Mayberry gang is always troubling. Of all the TV families we enjoyed watching in our youth, this one made us feel like a part of the family like no other. RIP George & Goober and thanks for the warm memories.

I just watched him in an episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour called "The Jar" - he gave a really heartfelt performance.  RIP, Mr. Lindsey.

Awww...so sad. I also watched The Jar on Encore and I have always enjoyed his characters in everything he was in.  RIP, good Sir.
