Hep.....don't know if you are familiar with the 1963 Canadian figures by Marx.

No I'm not! Thank you for bringing them to my attention. They'd look good going up against some of the Marx dinos or even Horrible Hamilton!

 ;)

Wow, very nice! Did they come pre-painted?

Yes, pre-painted hard plastic. Very fragile....so very easily broken.

Makes a mint set even that more desirable.

Most (if not all) of these hard plastic Marx figures are dated 1963 and produced in Hong Kong. They are most often referred to as Goldmarx figures. Goldmarx hard plastic six figure sets include Romans, Egyptians, knights, Vikings, WWII Germans, Americans, British, Canadians and Japanese. Filling out a complete six figure set of any of those series is not easy....

I remember the GoldMarx figures, I think I had one - a Roman soldier. Do you know how much they sold for originally?
We had quite a few of the Minikins, I think they were called? Disney figures, and the like.

Correction - they were Tinykins and Disneykins. Minikins were made by another company, painted lead figures.

No one mentioned the Amalgam figure that is the Wolf Man. More inspired by Bama'a cover art and "Curse of the Werewolf, with some Chaney thrown in for good measure. But I'm quite fond of it!

Are the Goldmarx figures roughly the same 6" size as the Marx Universal monsters and Marvel superheroes? Are these Romans Goldmarx figures?

Did not some of these Goldmarx figures such as the Romans and Egyptians come pre-painted? Or am I mixing the Goldmarx series up with a different Marx series of figures?

 ???

Naturally, the monsters are my favorite set (and the Campus Cuties make great victims for the monsters!). But, after the monsters, probably my next favorite set is one that no one has mentioned yet: the Apollo Astronauts. But then, I grew up in Huntsville, Alabama, "the Rocket City," where NASA had (and still has) an installation, and my father was a NASA engineer. As a monster kid who grew up in the shadow of Apollo rockets, those two sets pretty much encapsulate my childhood!

Interesting that of all the polls on this forum this is the one that's drawn the second highest vote total exceeded only by the poll on the Aurora monster model kits.

And after over seven years, it's still neck-and-neck between the Creature and Frankenstein for the overall lead!

After the monsters, I think this is my favorite of the large Marx figures:

Though I like those cavemen an awful lot, too!

Marx had the best-sculpted figures of that era, by far. Amazing pictures, Hep.
