"Horror Hosts" Candy Boxes, anyone?
« on: July 21, 2008, 05:05:35 PM »
I quickly slapped together this pic of a box front to see if anyone would be interested in a (short) series of "Horror Hosts" candy boxes (not Phoenix, but kinda retro). I know one person was, but thought I'd probably need a little more incentive than that.

Hot damn! I know I sure would!

Maybe we should be numbering these things? Kinda like UMA exclusive premiums? Collect them all!
Throw the url somewhere in the fine print too just as a safeguard from deceit. And of course, group promotion too!  Just an idea.

After Zach and Vampira, who would be the next best known early horror host(s)? Especially someone who might have gotten some national press (as the above 2 did) during the original run of their series'. I'm thinkin' Ghoulardi might be a good candidate.

I'm sure everyone will have their favorites listed, so I might as well jump in early.  Philadelphia's Dr. Shock was Roland's (Zacherle's) successor and was the inspiration for Dan Roebuck's Dr. Shocker.

I was kind of afraid that would happen. LOL

Really just looking for the most famous of the early ('50s/'60s) hosts, rather that everyone's personal host, 'cause I was thinkin' maybe 4 boxes, tops (or, 4 box tops, or The Four Tops).

Looks like you'll have to quit your job and go into the confectionery business - "Pandora Candy Company".

Bob Wilkins from Creature Features?

I thought of him, too, but he doesn't have a horror character, like Zach, etc.

You  certes can't leave out "Vampira" and just maybe toss in "Zombo" for the Halibut.

Vampira's a definite. Zombo is certainly tempting, but I thought I'd go with the real hosts.

I've never seen his show, but I love the look of Australia's Deadly Earnest.  He was active in the 60's.

Other suggestions might be Dr Shock, Ghoulardi, Sammy Terry, Chilly Billy, and maybe Al Lewis

Mike,
The Zach box is AWESOME! When you make the template i'd LOVE to make up a bunch of them on card stock paper to fill up w/candy and leave for him at Chiller this fall to hand out to the kids who visit his table. What better Halloween treat?? He'd be blown away! BEAUTIFUL JOB! Thanks,
