And if the point wasn't driven home enough, the person who won the postcard is no longer a registered user either. What a shock!  8)

I think the bottom line is that if you are going to dabble with ebay you better be educated on the item you are buying and hopefully you can avoid the pits and the pendulums.

I'm surprised people buy autos at all anymore, the percentage of fakes must be staggering

I wouldn't buy one from eBay period.
Me either. Even so-called reputable dealers are suspect when it comes to 60-70 year old autographs.

It's always great to great to welcome back missing UMAers. Why were you gone so long? Anyway, great to have you back.

Welcome back to the UMA, Mrs. Frankenstein.🤘🎃
Ouch! 1, 482.42 for four autographs.🤨💀

I suppose it would be OK if they at least were authentic - but 90% of all Clive's I see are fake, and really poorly copied too..if only people did a little research first they should be able to tell.

I am mainly a Clive fan all though I love the Universal monster movies and way back I was researching Clive but then a amazing chance to work on a project came along and then on top of it all I bought a huge old house in need of restoration so, bye bye forums. I ditched Clive for a while but miss his company  :)
A lot has happened since I left - how is the newest restoration of Frankenstein 1931 ? I haven't bought it - the blu-ray - 2014 was it ?

It's exceptional. Universal always leaves a little room for improvement (maybe for the 4k version), but no real complaints. Btw, did you ever see that beautiful Distinctive Dummies Colin Clive figure? It's very well done.

Oh, yes. But the one in my avatar is still the one that looks the most like him - it's great. I keep it on my vanity table  ;D  I'm very fuzzy about likeness and I even painted mine to look  even more like him. I think it was mainly the eyebrows that needed some work and contouring.

I've always loved that kit. Unfortunately, I don't have your artistic talent. Well done! Btw, which is your absolute favorite Clive film and performance. What a tragic life he led.

Well, that's tough.. I always were more interested in his theatre career and thought he should have done more comedy, he had great comic timing and that was also what he himself wanted to do but Hollywood typecast him pretty much all the time.
The radio play THE OTHER PLACE is great !  Seriously, find that if you haven't heard it. It is a gem.
Also JOURNEY'S END, as it showcase his talent and is basically the play on film. But of course his performance in FRANKENSTEIN 1931 is superb. I like Clive when he is funny and crazy - he does that to perfection. Nobody does crazy like Colin.
His life was probably a mixed bag. He was privileged, lived a reckless  and rather selfish life. I don't know if this is a fact that is still frowned upon - fans do not like to find that their heroes were human, and Colin was very much a flawed human. But he was interesting and entertaining, I enjoy that. I don't know how many Clive fans I have insulted with the truth, but there's been a few.

I agree. And truthfully I just don't see the appeal. To me autograph seeking/collecting is a form of hero worship.

Collecting! It's what I do!
