Silicone 1935 Karloff Frankenstein

Thought I'd share this new addition to my collection. I commissioned Sam McCain to do a silicone Boris & Elsa set from Bride of Frankenstein. Still waiting on Elsa but the Boris came today. The silicone tint on this is amazing...whether it looks green or grey depends entirely on the ambient lighting. When I opened it last night I thought it was grey with no hint of green at all...then when I got up this morning and saw it in bright sunlight it was bright lime green. Throughout the day as the sun's moved away it's gotten to look greyer and greyer.

It looks great.  Man, you have to show us more pics of your collection (again)!!  Sam is so talented.  What is it you like about the silicone, personally?

Thanks Sean! You're right...I really do have to take some updated collection pics.

I like the realistic effect of silicone. It just has a lifelike look that can't be replicated by painting an opaque surface. Here's a perfect example...I have two Bob Causey Lost Boys busts...one in silicone and one in resin painted by Monte Ward (who is an excellent talent). When viewed alone, Monte's piece looks absolutely stunning. However, when it sits next to the silicone piece there is just no comparison:

I agree the silicone does look amazing, only wax comes close to the translucency of skin, but I am fearful of how it will hold up over decades.

That's a good question, slasher.
I wonder what's happened to Sam's molds since his death in a traffic collision several years ago.
Try contacting artist Daniel Horne if you know how ... or maybe lblambert who started this post.
