I'll watch anything, and even a lot of stuff that people consider horrible I can tolerate (I love Manos!). But there is one movie, one that is so god awful I just could not make it to the end. I loved "Dream a Little Dream" when I was in Jr. High. It wasn't really great by any means, but it had its moments and I had a real thing for Merideth Salenger. Well, unbeknownst to me, there was a sequel made in the mid 90's. Just recently me and my wife found it while scanning Netflix, and we were ecstatic! We both had fond memories of the first movie, and are huge fans of the Corys. We started watching it. My wife left about 20 minutes in, more disappointed then I'd ever seen her. I stayed to give it a chance, but it literally just got worse and worse each line spoken and minute passed. I tapped out about an hour in. I just couldn't take it anymore. This film made no sense, but not at all in a good way. Not even in a bad way. It was just awful.

Ace Ventura Jr
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s Island Adventure
Home Alone 4:  Taking Back the House
Hercules and the Captive Women
Blair Witch Project (terrorized by twig crafts--Martha Stewart from Hell?)
Zyzzyx Rd (the only movie to gross $30 at the boxoffice)
The Werewolf of Washington
Dr. Jekyl & Sister Hyde
The Brain That Wouldn't Die
Eegah!
Showgirls
Teenage Caveman (the only Big Lots $3 bargain movie where I felt  ripped off)

And every movie based on/inspired by a video game.

I love Russ Meyers' movies!  Super Vixens rules.  Met him briefly at a Chicago Consumer Electronics Show years ago....

The Brain the Wouldn't Die is this subject of the next Scary Monsters cover I'm scheduled to start soon.

I know I'm in the minority on this -- but I love Showgirls.  What few have noticed is that it's an homage to Russ Meyer.  It has many of the thematic elements of his films -- just with smaller boobs and a lower key directorial style.  Otherwise, it's a crazy, out of control, quite self-aware satire.  What most are seeing as "bad" is very intentional over-the-top outrageousness  -- meant to create a "wtf?" response in the viewer.

League of extraordinary gentlemen.   When it first came out I fell asleep trying to watch it(and I never fall asleep.during a movie) I tried to watch it again the other night, made it through. But it was just horrible! Its sad because the idea was good, but the story was horrible as was the cgi and the acting. Sean connery even blew in it. It drug on forever. Definately a worst movie canidate. Especially considering the budget.
 By the way,
ZOMBIELAND RULED! Paranormal activity was really good too. Part 2 wasn't bad either. And I liked the blair witch.and RZ's halloween. This is a cool thread to see how different we all are, yet haunt he same place.  (UMA)

Pauspy- I had forgotten about benny & joon!!!!  Blarfffff- my daughter was obsessed with that movie in high school, and I kept my mouth shut for waaaaay too many years- awful, awful, movie!
I also thought about another "Oh, Look- someone being eccentric for the sake of being eccentric- movie......"Juno."...GAG!!!  Look, Juno's doing something! (cue indie music- repeat)  It was awful, yet I know sooo many people that liked it!  maybe it just hit a little too close to home, I don't know  :(
And "Pretty Woman"!!  What is wrong with people?? It is a horrible/worst movie list type of movie.......ok, I'm done.

Charp .. I never understood the appeal of Pretty Woman or of Julia Roberts. There are many forgettable movies out there that I've forgotten. This is a good thing.  ;D

You're right on this one--totally forgettable, considering all of the "spectacle," not to mention the potential in the premise. Another one that really blew was the movie based on the Avengers (the TV show).

For me, a movie is bad if it's boring and/or it takes itself to seriously. I'll cut low-budget genre movies (horror, thrillers) a lot of slack because even if they're slow or stupid, I'll at least be interested in how they fit with what was going on around them (what other movie's they're lifting plot/themes from). Or, like Manos, it's at least trying to do something a little different.

My gripe with (the few) big "hollywood" movies i've seen in the past 10 or more years is that as the technical and "craft" areas (cinematography, design, effects, etc.) have gotten so good and so slick technically,  the scripts and direction have made movies "hollow," lacking in any of the characterization, subtext or cleverness that even many b- or "small" genre movies displayed.

Confession: I like "Manos" better than anything w/Kevin Costner or Julia Roberts!

HOSTEL and anything following the words "Rob Zombie's" (and I've checked them to try to see if I was missing something).  Some great actors' talents wasted.  I can't see how he's supposed to be a fan of classic horror and then turns around and makes the antithesis of what made the classics great.

neonnoodle-I just burst into hysterics when I saw SPLHCB- huh?  Sergeant Pepper's....etc.!!!
I had forgotten about that abomination!! And the sad thing is- that was the first Beatles experience I had!! I was about 15, and my parents never listened to the Beatles, and I never really caught on when I heard one of their songs, so I went to see that movie with my little sister and I walked out STUNNED!
I remember thinking "you must have to be on drugs to understand any of that movie"!!!  The ONLY reason I went was because my idol- Steve Martin- was in it!! Now that I'm older, much older, I realize that the Beatles were a force of nature and I love their amazing music masterpieces!
Every once in a while, I hear a Beatles song that I've never heard (there are lots of them), and I thank G_d that it wasn't used in that cough...cough.. "movie".
ADD SPLHCB to my list of Worst...Movie..Ever!!
