Great bones in that house but major renovations needed. Has never been updated according to the specs since being built in 1926! If Bela hadn't lived there the price would be a helluva lot lower. Still nice to see where he lived.

The price seems comparable for other homes in the area with smaller lot sizes, actually a little under.  With the big lot and nice view, even with renovation needed it seems priced about right for the area, with a little bump for history.

Did Lugosi Jr. have ownership of the property?And can anyone verify if there were any upgrades at all in the house? I noticed the kitchen tile under the sink looked pretty old, kitchen cabinets looked original, and a window frame and a ceiling light base looks pretty original. Not sure on the actual glass light fixture.

Firstly, Bela moved. A lot.  He lived at this address for about a year, but it wasn't in the 40s. A rundown of his Hollywood addresses and dates :

During 1928- early 1929, while performing the stage play "Dracula", Bela lived at two legendary addresses............The Ambassador Hotel and The Hollywood Athletic Club.

From early 1929 until October 1931 (during the filming of "Dracula"), Bela lived at 1146 North Hudson Drive.

In October of 1931 he moved to 2643 Creston Drive and stayed there until May 1932, when he moved to 6381 Hollywood Blvd (Films during this period include "Murders In The Rue Morgue", "White Zombie", "Chandu The Magician",and "Island Of Lost Souls").

In 1933 he had moved down the street a way to 6521 Sunset Boulevard, then onto 2829 Westshire Blvd (just a block away from the house listed for sale in this thread). He stayed there until late 1933 when he went to live in New York for a few months.

In 1934, after filming "The Black Cat", Bela moved to the house listed here for sale at 2835 Westshire until June 1935, where he and Lillian lived briefly at 3515 South La Brea Ave.

From 1935-37, Bela lived at 2227 Outpost Drive, being forced finally to sell the property in 1937 due to financial difficulties. It's so sad that the mega-star of 1931 had already, by 1937, begun the series of financial setbacks which would then plague him for the rest of his life.

From 1937-41, Lugosi lived at 3714 Lankershim Drive.

In 1941 Bela moved to the house which he called his favorite, 10841 Whipple Street. He lived there until 1950, when he moved to NYC, and then lived upon his return to Hollywood at 4601 Rodeo Lane, apartment 2, until 1953 when his marriage to Lillian ended.

In 1954 he's living at 1427 North Laurel Ave., again apartment 2. He stayed there until 1955, when he committed himself for detox from painkillers used to treat his chronic back/leg pain. For 3 months he lived in the Metropolitan State Hospital, 11400 Norwalk Blvd. He was released in August 1955, and then moved in with his nephew (also named Bela) at 1534 North Serrano.

Bela's final residence was an apartment on Harold Way, number 5620. He died there on August 16, 1956..............so very far, in so many ways, from the home listed for sale in this thread.

 Bela Jr. never lived here. His dad left this house in 1935 and Jr wasn't born until 1938. And the listing states that the tile and many fixtures are indeed original, which is pretty cool considering this house was built in the mid Twenties.
