Has anyone been paying attention to eBay prices on some 80s toys?  Particularly the low-end, off-brand, "junk aisle" type stuff.

Look at these listings for Nightmare Warriors:

And here are some high bids on Bugmen of Insecta:

But the real money seems to be in Remco figures:

In theory, nostalgia/ collectibles follow a 25 year cycle.

I was just speaking about that in variety recently:

ANd yet this one with a card with condition issues, only went for $5.

I never heard of this series or the skeleton ones.

Toy Ranch

The Bugmen hit the clearance bin pretty hard, and there aren't that many really nice cards out there.  Looks like I sold all my Bugmen and Nightmare Warriors way too early.  I knew that when I did it...

I'm glad to see them getting the respect they deserve from collectors.

Wow, I didn't even see that one.  Know why?  Because my saved search is for BugMEN of Insecta, not BugMAN of Insecta.  If I missed it, a lot of other people probably did, too.  That one-letter difference probably cost the seller $50.  Even on a rough card, that would have sold a lot higher if it had been correctly listed.

I only need one figure to complete a carded set: the Stag Beetle.  I had a carded one 17 years ago, but it is long gone.  I should have kept it!  Well, I'll get another one eventually.  Then I will rule the world of Insecta.

Dr.Terror

The Remco MOTU style figures have always seemed to grabbed high prices, the Jewel Theif especially.    MOTU collectors sometimes spend more for the knock-offs than the real thing.   some of the Pirates of the Galaxies figures go pretty high also.  The coolest ones of course.

As a whole, yes I do think high end 80's stuff is gaining momentum.  some of the Dragonriders vehicles, Power Lords  etc.. are really getting up there.
Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

I have almost zero interest in the mainstream 80s toys, but I love the knock-off junk.  I'm glad I got some of it years ago when prices were still reasonable.  I wish I could collect a few more of the Remco figures.  I really like the Warrior Beasts and a couple of the Pirates and Conan figures.  But I'm not spending $500 each on them.

Now...if anyone has a carded Stag Beetle...you know how to reach me...

Did I mention I want a Stag Beetle?  Oh, I did.  Just making sure.

High atop a lonely hill, in the heart of the sinister Ramsey estate, George reclines on his hoarded pile of carded Stag Beetles and utters an unholy chuckle....;)

Over the past 4 years I sold off all of my 80's toys and to no surprise did very well on Star Wars and G.I. Joe but what surprised me was some of the off brand stuff and what I got for it.  I didn't have any MIP stuff it was all played with not only by me but also my nephews that got to raid my toys while I was in the service.  Other popular stuff that easily sold was a couple of Transformer Dinobots, a few Ghostbusters figures and a couple of Thundercats!

If I'm not mistaken this Remco lot went for around $130!?

This Dragon Riders of the Styx stuff went for quite a bit for what it is but I don't recall exactly how much it went for?

Two Imperial dragons that went for more than I expected!

Apparently the Other World stuff is huge with collectors!

Another one that I really thought would go under the radar was this Rocks n Bugs n Things; which not only went for some good money but I had one bidder excitedly e-mailing me inquiring how many more I had....unfortunately this was my only one!

Two more lesser none lines that went like the proverbial hotcakes~

Powerlords

Blackstar

Monolith

Nice '80's stuff Zombiehorror. I've got some of the Blackstar stuff and some Powerlords, too. Here's my Dragon Riders of the Styx figures. The guy with the wolf head tends to sell for quite a bit because he only came in a big playset.

That's correct. The 35 year old starts looking back at what he treasured as a ten year old.

;)
Collecting! It's what I do!

Monolith

One of my favorite '80's lines; Clash of the Titans. They seem to always sell well. I don't have any carded figures but here are my loose ones.
Wish they made a Medusa.

And here's another cool '80's line-Rock Lords, they transformed from a rock to a figure. I've got a bunch of loose ones and these two carded ones...

1975

The Bugmen sat unsold at my local TRU from 1984 until they disappeared in I'd say 1993 along with all the cosmic man, Dragon Riders of Styx and unsold MOTU. Hindsight is indeed 20/20.
