Here's an incredible custom build that Jim Bertges based on the Aurora Creature kit:

Jim got the girl and new arms to enable the Creature to hold the girl from a Jimmy Flintstone resin add-on kit. He also used a replacement head for the Creature that Hilber Graf created.

Here are three shots of Tom Hering's excellent build of the Aurora Wonder Woman model kit:

I really like her skin tone!

And here's the ad for the kit from the back cover of Monster World 10:

Really fine work! The high gloss gives it the look of a porcelain piece. The detail in the paint work is perfect!

I remember building some Aurora kits when I was a kid back in the '60s.  I remember Superman and then the Witch when it was first released around 1965 when I was 12.  Me and two friends all bought one and then had a building session at one of their houses sharing paints and tools.  I believe it was the only Aurora monster kit I owned, although I owned numerous model kits, and I thought it was so cool because it was like the perfect example of a kid's idea of a classic witch.  Well about 10 years ago as I was getting back into serious plastic model building I happened across the Frightening Four Pack of Aurora kits in Toys 'r Us and that regenerated my monster madness and I haven't looked back with around 400 geeky models in my collection and a good portion of those being monster types.  Over that time frame I have build all 13 original Aurora kits although none were actual "Auroras" but re-pops by Polar Lights or others.  Anyway, here is my entire collection completed about 2 years ago and the set has won awards at model contests including Wonderfest.

The Fly was one of my very favourite superheroes when I was a kid:

In fact coming across issue #12 of the Adventures of the Fly on the magazine stand at Lamont & Perkins Pharmacy in London as an eight year old in 1961 sparked what would become a lifetime interest in comic magazines and superheroes:

Ads heralding the introduction of his soon to be partner Fly Girl in issue #14 began appearing in several other Archie comics a few months thereafter:

John Rosenberger was the artist of record for Adventures of the Fly #11-28 including the two house ads above for Fly Girl.

I'm therefore absolutely enthralled by how Tom Hering took an Aurora Comic Scenes Superboy kit:

And kit bashed it to get the Fly based on a scene from issue #31:

Absolutely fabulous!

Brilliant work on that Fly conversion! The paint is perfect! That's part of the joy of modeling, taking an existing kit and turning it into something that no one else has.
