Did you once collect comics? Do you still collect comics? Well then tell us about them!

I'll start with a few scans from my collection of Flash comics:

Sent my  collection of comics off to a biggie internet auction house in Texas acouple years ago.....retired early and happy soon after! I miss em, but I don't miss the job, bills or worries......all gone!      Bud

I presume you sent them off to Heritage Auctions. Can you list some of the items you put up for bids?

As a kid, colelcted mostly Batman and Flash titles, Justice league, Teen Titans some Superman and Dark Shadows. Lost all but two to a kid next door who had broken his leg and I loaned my collection to him--when I return from camp--they had moved away!

Have since acquired some Batman titles, Superman, Captain Action old and new, Star Wars, Green Hornet and I thinks some Star Trek

I had a pretty good sized collection, mostly super-hero; some 70', alot of 80's-90's, but sold them (what I could) all on Ebay!  The only one's I kept were the horror related stuff I had~

I also have several issues of The Munsters that I acquired off Ebay!  These are the only two I have pics off but I'm pretty sure I have about 4!?

I still have all the pictures of my other comics that I took for the Ebay auctions, I just couldn't delete them...sigh!
Hey, I'm no longer moderated.........that might not be such a good thing!!

I used to collect comics up to about 15 years or so ago.  The new ones were getting too expensive and I just wasn't able to really afford the hobby much either.  I sold a lot of stuff on Ebay to pay bills and such years ago.  I still have a lot of the filler issues, but the in selling, I cherrypicked all of the best stufff out.  I used to like to look for odd stuff, first appearances of characters, and early works by artists.  I had all 6 of the Marvel Mini Books (tiny little ones from 1966) and each one in all six colors.

I had the Wham-O Giant comic (1968?) that was supposedly the largest comic ever printed.

I had a mintiest mint copy of Incredible Hulk 181 (1st full appearance of Wolverine) that I wished I had waited a couple of years to sell because I could have gotten thousands of dollars for it, especially if I had sent it off that grading system that they do now.
I had a Fantastic Four 48 (1st app. of the Silver Surfer) that had a double cover.

I had some neat foreign comics, promotional items, and some toys and posters and such.  They literally went to people all over the world.  The pictures above aren't mine, just ones I found online.

Saddest of all was that when I was collecting, I sold a decent copy of Famous Monsters #1 at a convention to get money to buy comics.  I wish I hadn't now, of course.

It was quite a varied bunch. I had been a very big Kirby collector. It hurt to say goodbye to the Adventures #72 up, the Daring Mystery's, early FFs and such. But what is weird is I really miss the bizarre stuff......Hot Rod King #1, Speed Smith #1, Lars of Mars, Green Lama, and especially my Hit Comics...some of the best covers a comic ever saw. Guess I had lived with the Spiderman and other Marvel comics long enough that saying so-long wasn't tuff. My auctions surprised me plenty....I had found a torn off Batman cover to Detective #35.....a very cool hypodermic cover.....brought well over a grand......and I remember a Capt America #47 bringing way-way over guide (it had a Holocaust Nazi cover). I could have spent the rest of my life selling those comics at comic conventions and wouldn't have done as well as an internet auction did.....and they ALL sold. Really cool. And not all is gone, I still have tons of comic buried in the basement somewhere.......turned these up while doing a cleanup last week.......Later, Bud

As a kid I was not really big into comics, it's only been in the past few years that I have taken more than a passing interest. I mostly collect the big black and white reprint volumes Marvel and DC put out. I do have the complete runs of the Marvel Godzilla comic and the Marvel Shogun Warriors series, plus 50 or more original Charlton and Gold Key Horror comics and a ton of the Goldstone and other 90s EC reprints. I absolutely love the horror comics. EC is great but I have to say Charlton's horror comics are my favorites as those are the comics I grew up with, and I don't think they get enough attention from comic fans. Some of my fondest memories are going to this small mom and pop store and spending hours with my cousin looking over the absolutely huge comic and magazine aisle! I would always manage to get a new FM or some creepy Charlton horror comics. Those were the days!
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!
