Adam Dougherty Frankie....in glorious B&W
« on: January 14, 2011, 11:32:37 AM »
I just finished a great kit of the Monster by Kreature Kid himself, Adam Dougherty, and I decided to take a different approach on this one. I've seen some of the other members here do their kits in black and white and I thought it looked very cool. So I decided to do Frankie the same way. I really enjoyed painting it and figuring out the different shades of black and grey to use. I think I nailed it pretty close to what he looked like in B&W. I also just ordered Adams Creature kit and I might do him in the same style. Let me know what you think, and thanks for looking.

Beautiful work.  I am envious of the skill of the sculptor and the painter.

There's a interview on resinthebarbarian's blog I wanted to read, which I am sure showcased more of Adam's work.  But for some reason it takes a password to view it, and I can't see anything, lol!! I have his Creature. Its sweet. Cant beat the price for something that big either.

This is one of the coolest Frankie's I've ever seen. A very good price on these too.

Sir,  the B/W comes across so well. I did the same with a Aurora Frankenstein kit while watching The Bride Of Frankenstein(which is where the sculpt on the kit is based)  to see the different shades of greys so I know its harder than it looks to get it a B/W paint job right but your work is flawless.

Nicely done! Black and white is extremely hard to pull off but you have done it well. Monahan13 and your build-ups have sold me on this kit. I went to the site when you first posted about it and wasn't impressed, turned away and wasn't going back. After you two slung some paint on this bad boy it shows what a good paint job does to sell a kit. Mine is on it's way! I don't know why I haven't heard about it and a 1/4 scale resin kit for $100, almost unheard of. I hope it's as nice in person as you two have made it look.

If you to this site http://www.modelmansion.com/models/bargain_dungeon/bargain_dungeon1.php. They have both the Frankie and Creature kits for sale. I like the paint job on the Creature, but the Frankie paint job doesn't bring out the true beauty of Adams sculpt. They sell them for under 100 dollars, and also have prepainted versions. Oh and thanks for the compliments everyone.

.I promise you that you won't be disappointed when you get it. It's the best Frankie sculpt I have ever seen, right down to his lumbering walk. My creach is on the way too and in sure that will be just as good.
