I guess it's that time of year again to bring this one up again.
BTW,They tried a remake in the early 90's and it was pretty lame.

The Munsters (Virus-Munster Mosh).

Wasn't John Shuck Herman?  Is he even 6 feet tall?  Grandpa was TALLER than Herman on that lousy version.

Dude let's develop a spec script and pitch it!

I'm game! Seriously, I did propose a similar idea to Kathryn Leigh Scott for Dark Shadows: a follow up to Night of DS, a grown David Collins returns to his ancestral home...& the games begin again. Better than rehashing the same storyline. I did get a photo & a nice note from her, stating she forwarded my idea to Jim Pierson.

Back to The Munsters remake, it cd be so BAD it's good!

IceMann--please elaborate? Are you a producer or Writer on the new show?

When ICEMANN said it was one of his "best shows,"  I think he meant one of his favorite shows.

I feel weird about this whole thing. The Munsters are so sacred to me. I want to be open minded and not act like an old lady, but I can't stand the thought of a 2000s spin on the show. On the other hand, like someone else stated- Anything monster related on tv would be welcomed. If they use unknown actors, it might be better because I really don't watch any sitcoms because of the hammy attitude of today's "comedy" stars.  I agree that Grandpa could be cast with someone that is an older comedic actor, but I can't stand to see any of these 80s has-been actors in these important roles. Aggggggh! Why not warm over the Addams Family?  Not my precious Munsters    :)

They did. AF is currently one of the top musicals on Broadway, and it is great.

As a one-shot, I thought "Here Come the Munsters" (1995) made a very valiant effort but still felt kinda flat.

Agreed.

Part of the problem with any of these remakes is they can't seem to recreate the writing (especially the humor) that made the original successful. Even the guys that did the original remake (MUNSTERS' REVENGE) , who were the same guys that did the original, failed. Same was true with HALLOWEEN WITH THE ADDAMS FAMILY. The writing, the jokes, the pace...were all different, and inferior to the original.

As far as a Munsters' remake, I always thought RAYMOND's Brad Garett would be the perfect Herman, and the late Peter Boyle would have been a great Grandpa.

they'll probably add a lot of sex to it.  like herman and lilly running up to the bedroom, and marilyn  too before her boyfriends get scared away.  i guess that's another show i won't be watching.

I was hoping for a Munsters movie with Brad Garret as Herman and Robin Williams as Grandpa!!

Maybe Kirstie Alley as Marilyn?

It could be okay.  I did like The New Addams Family series.  I would prefer a new Munsters show to be on one of the family cable channels rather than NBC.  I'd watch it before passing judgement.

I do like the idea of Brad Garrett as Herman.
