Title: Adding hair
Post by: Spock on April 21, 2010, 04:48:11 AM
Not sure if this has come up before but what are the different methods used for adding hair or fur to a full size Wolfman resin bust or latex mask. Are their any resources on the internet that could help.

There are a few different ways to do it.

On a latex or silicone bust, hair-punching is the best way to go, but it is time consuming work. That is, taking a few strands at a time and punching them into the material. You can make your own hair punching tool by cutting the eyelet end in half on a needle, then using that to push the hairs into the latex etc.

On a resin bust, I use the superglue method - that is, adding a few drops of superglue at a time and gluing a small bunch of hair onto the head.

Another method is to glue hair onto latex masks - much quicker and easier than punching. Most Michael Myers masks, for example, have glued on hair. Most store-bought latex masks have glued on hair.

Hope this helps a little,

Al

Thanks Al....I've been thinking about this too, as I've a Bela Life mask which I'm gonna try and pull a cast off of, and work into a full head.

Where does one find hair...real or fake? A wig shop?

No, I'm not on commission, but their customer service is great, I highly recommend them.
