Son of a- Special Secret Feature!
Can't think of any other "Son of" Universal movies. Chaney Jr. was the son of a Universal monster.
-
Yeah. Seems like they're trying to be funny. I'd be happy if they went with Dracula's Daughter to keep the generational theme. Or Ghost, with Frankenstein's other son.
-
pretty good line up

One week to go. They're still keeping Friday's third movie a secret. I like the poster. Both garish and retro.

wasn't there a Son of The Blob?
-
Yes. Also known as Beware! The Blob (and I think a couple other titles). I hope that's not it. And these are typically Universal monster weekends. As Mike noted, any Chaney Jr. movie could fit. In The Wolf Man, being the son of a lord is a plot point. Any Universal movies where the main character is the son of a witch? :)
I can't wait to find out.

Son of the Invisible Man would be great!

Son of the Invisible Man would be great!
Oh my....that's probably it. That dang Cat Women on the moon thing, lol

Oh my....that's probably it.
It says "Feature", though.

Whatever the "secret feature" is, I think they're being so intentionally misleading that it's likely to be a disappointment in some way. There was an old Chaney Jr. episode of the Biography series called "Son of a Thousand Faces." I kind of feel like the more speculation the greater the disappointment is going to be. So, I'm more focused on Son of Frankenstein (my favorite of the series) and Son of Dracula, a fun, if flawed film.
They also revealed yesterday that what I thought was the poster is actually a T-shirt design. This is real poster:

That will look much better on my wall (even if Chaney looks a bit too much like well-fed Vincent Price ;D). But I'm definitely getting both. (https://flic.kr/p/2jDU7K2)

Another fun Monster Mash weekend.

But…
The Devil Bat?
That was the surprise third movie on Friday.
Really? Why? I was less “Son of a …” than “What the…?”
The Monster didn’t seem overjoyed, either.

They didn’t even explain. I wonder if they expected to find a third themed movie, but eventually failed. I had a feeling the reveal would disappointing.
Still, I was going for Son of Frankenstein and Son of Dracula on Friday and Werewolf of London on Saturday, so the other movies were far less important. I hadn’t seen Abbot and Costello meet the Mummy since I was a kid. I enjoyed it more than I expected/remembered. The ’43 Phantom has some charm, but it’s a weak “monster” movie.
You can see how disappointed ‘25 looks (although it could have been the dirty looks he was getting for wearing the wrong kind of mask!).

They could have at least shown "The Devil Bat's Daughter" (it's some kind of offspring)! :)
-
Exactly. Although Dracula's Daughter would have been even more appropriate! Even Ghost has Frankenstein's other son. Sloppy planning. But other than that, they do a great job, there.
