Title: So. Dracula The Un-Dead sucks then?
Post by: BountyHunter on January 30, 2020, 01:27:00 PM
I was so excited to get this, but now I'm not sure I want to read it. A quick search on here and all I could find was negative comments.

Did anybody like it? Should I just toss it in the shelf and forget about it?

Stoker's great grandnephew has apparently put out a prequel, as well. Anybody like that one?

I haven't read "Dracul" yet, but "Dracula the Un-Dead" was pretty wretched. Not even fun on a campy level. Just tedious and boring.

After all the mostly negative reviews on Amazon, I elected not to order the book.  Shame.

The real shame was how bad the book turned out. It was more insult than homage. Considering Ian Holt is supposedly a huge Stoker fan, it's like they took every opportunity to trivialize his additions to vampire lore and mythology. It read more like bad Twilight fanfic than a continuation of Dracula. Maybe that's why Holt wasn't involved with Dracul.
