I'm trying to find something I checked out from a library several years ago. I think the book I'm looking for is vintage and there were color illustrations of monsters found within. I remember one page had the image of a possibly Roman soldier transforming into a werewolf. I am pretty sure another depicted a yellow Mothman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothman) with a very humanoid face but with giant red eyes that might have been buglike. The winged cryptid was flying towards a man nearby a tree who could have been a construction worker and he looks frightened maybe using it as cover. I do hope I have given you guys enough to go off of.
I take it this is not a book on movies.
Sounds like something you would find in the Tales from the Crypt books, but those were not in color.

I think I found it! The book is called Learning About Monsters by Alma Gilleo with illustrations by Joe Van Severen.
