Do you think this represents a commitment to release all of them?  I hope so.

I doubt Toho Company, Ltd., will ever allow them to release "Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster" or "Godzilla vs. Megalon." Otherwise, I do believe Shout! Factory will eventually release all remaining MST3K titles. They are also re-releasing  some of the titles previously released by Rhino Home Video.

We picked up a few - and now I can't remember if it was RIFF or MST3K - that had both the original film and 'their' version.  I thought that was terrific, and I could justify higher prices for some nice, remastered print of the original.

That sounds like a great idea! I cant be the only one who actually liked some of the movies they "talked" over.

It was Rhino Home Video that paired up MST3K episodes with the full version of movies, early in their DVD run. These were only for films that Rhino already owned the rights to. Now that Shout! Factory is re-releasing many of those long out of print films, I doubt they will be allowed to add the full movies that Rhino had.

The lack of farsightedness is the home-video biz always stuns me.  Companies, pairing up rights instead of being cut-throat rivals, might have half slices of the pie, but what a HUGE pie it could be - 50% of a lot versus 100% of nothing.  And what happened to time-agreements - "For five years, or two years, this is what we'll do..." and move on from there.  By the time some of those partnership agreements were completed, Ridley Scott might be releasing more Blade Runner Versions.

Along with the latest version of The White Album.
