As a companion thread to the popular identifying the monster film by a picture from the movie, here is a thread where you have to identify the film by a quote from the film. This may be a bit more difficult, but it can be also equally as fun.
Just name the film for now; extra points if you can ID the character/actor who said the quote. The winner of the challenge then goes on to post one of their own choosing. This is limited to horror/sci-fi/fantasy films..no Westerns, musicals, etc. :)
I'll start things off with this one:
" It..ate him. Bit off his head...like a Gingerbread man."
And yes, clues may be given when asked.

From Beyond - Barbara Crampton
Don't remember the character's name.

I know I'm right about my answer, so I am going to go ahead and post another.
"The desert's full of things that don't belong."

Like a salt vein that used to be part of an ocean? But now its a desert? If so then its Universal's original concept (but maligned by many) Monolith monsters. Timbeeeerrrrrr!
-
In case that's it....and I am pretty sure it is...here's one;
"I TAKE IT YOU WISH TO INCLUDE ME WITHIN THE AUSPICES OF THIS PETULANT INTERROGATION. IN WHICH CASE I SHALL STATE THAT MY PRESENCE HERE THIS EVENING MAY EITHER BE TERMED AS CIRCUMSTANTIAL....OR THE FORCE OF DESTINY!"

You're right about the film, but it's Jefferey Combs that says it.. :)

Any clues for this one?

It involves The House of Grisbane. Thats a pretty big hint.
-
Well, then it must be HOUSE OF THE LONG SHADOWS. :D

You're right about the film, but it's Jefferey Combs that says it.. :)
Ah. Been a while since I saw the film.

Its from a movie with Frankenstein in it, though. I guarantee you that. Because someone delivers that line about the Frankenstein monster. I just dont remember who.

Mike got it right first...it's Larry Talbot speaking to Dr.Edelman regarding the Frankenstein Monster :)

Yeah, you can just hear Gwenn saying it when you read that.
I was hoping it was a generic enough quote (one that could have been said any number of movies) that it would mislead.
The 17 year old driver line from "Blob" was pretty specific to one film.

That's the actor! The actor he was talking to played the same character in three '60s sitcoms.

Well that hint didn't ring any bells for me..
But I think it is 1951's "When Worlds Collide".
(Who was he talking to?)

But I think it is 1951's "When Worlds Collide".
Correct! Hoyt's manservant was played by Frank Cady.

Know the face, but am not up on 60's sitcoms - didn't watch much other than old movies and sci-fi shows.
Didn't have TV at all for a number of years in the 80's and have recently deleted TV again.
Loved it when I was a kid. Don't care to watch it anymore today.

We're still in the 50's.
The line sets up a major plot turn. (NOT from "The Thing From Another World".)
-
It's from the Monster that Challenged the World. Some scientists is yammering on, or a military guy. Cant remember. Just watched this and IT Terror from Beyond Space a few nights ago. So I am sure I am right. 8)
-
...........unless I am totally brain dead or this line (or some variation appears in another giant 50's bug movie) I am guessing I was right. So, here's a new one.
"They look terrible. Why don't you put them out of their misery?"
-
It's from the Monster that Challenged the World. Some scientists is yammering on...
Correct.
It is Hans Conried (Dr. Rogers) explaining to the military officers that the giant mollusk egg they brought back to the lab is safe because they are keeping the water it is in at a steady 38 degrees to prevent it from hatching.
Then the little girl comes along and raises what she thinks is the room temperature setting to make her favorite lab rabbit more comfortable.
Oops!
-
Then we get the famous FM still that seemed to appear in every other issue, lol. >:D >:D
OK....so:
"They look terrible. Why don't you put them out of their misery?"
Any takers? 8)

Made this millennium, action takes place in the U.S., but was filmed in Canada. Made for TV. Disaster based rather than monster.

I'd read that Gunnar Hansen didn't like him very much on set, but later on became good friends with him. I guess the guy was a method actor, and stayed in character the whole shoot. And I think Franklin is one of the most unlikable people I've experienced in a movie, so that can't have been fun.

A relatively memorable, albeit...somewhat goofy, bit of dialogue.
That's Bradbury! One of the bits of dialogue from his screen treatment that made it into the final screenplay.
He reused it in his short story "Touched With Fire".
"More murders are committed at ninety-two degrees Fahrenheit than any other temperature. Over one hundred, it’s too hot to move. Under ninety, cool enough to survive. But right at ninety-two degrees lies the apex of irritability, everything is itches and hair and sweat and cooked pork."

No, the "Distinctive Dummies" clue made me think of Spock and the "K" could have been for "Kahn", hence "Star Trek 2"!

Thought you were responding to identify the movie. I know you are familiar with it. This is a flick that has been re-told two or three times. It was also on the radio. Don't think that line was ever re-used in the other scripts.

Watched TM last night. I always like how he played David Trilby (with a lovely brogue), young Jamie Trilby at about 20, and old Mr. James Trilby at what have been about 70. Basically 3 parts in the same movie.
You really understood when George thanked for being a good friend all those years and preserving his house as long as he could - in anticipation of his return.
I don't think they will ever do a remake with as much heart as the 1960 version.

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things?
No...that was on a island and featured multiple supernatural creatures. OK, another hint since this has dragged out too long and I don't wanna kill the game. The supernatural creature in question decapitates a victim and buries said victim's head in the dirt floor of his tool barn. His son almost finds it. His son plays a key role in the movie. He's the reason dear old dad becomes a monster in the first place, trying to protect him. There's lots and lots of hippies in it.....and a sheriff who despises them and says they are freaks.
