Welcome to the UMA, Sam!

Hope you find your poster! I remember having a few of those BL posters. No Frankie, though.

Sam, I also won two black light posters at the carnival back in the 1970's, one of the devil or a demon and one of Frankenstein with a castle. I won them throwing darts at some stars. I would say they were around 11" X 14" and it was somewhere between 1975-1978. I betcha anything it was the same poster! I was young, so the measurements may be skewed. Lots of greens, reds, yellow and purple colors and black in the posters. The devil had big wings and a pointed tail of course and the Franky poster I think he was sort of a side view and maybe some steps and the castle. I have been looking for these posters for years! I haven't even found a picture of it. Best of luck to you my friend, and if you find two, please look me up! I promise you I will do the same for you,  if I find two.

Growing up I had a black light Frankenstein but it was just a large head on the poster.

I was wondering if this is what you are looking for.  I won it a long time ago just before we were transferred to France in the Air Force. I got it throwing darts and somehow I managed to hold on to it after all these years. It is a black light poster on black velvet and has the Universal license mark on the bottom.  It is still in near mint condition with just 4 tack holes on the corners. I have almost finished expanding my Universal Room and this will still hang in it with a smaller frame. Sorry, it is not for sale but I wanted to use it as a reference to see if this is what you were looking for.

Steve, I am 95% sure that is the one I had from the carnival. I remember the colors, the lightning bolts, the brick/castle, his hand stretched out, etc... Is it about 11" X 14" or so? Of course there may have been different sizes. What is to the left of Franky? And is there a date?
Thanks so much for posting!

Yes, the date is 1975. I tried to get a more frontal shot for you but the battery in my camera is dead right now. This picture is taken from my site of  my collections which I will be updating soon because I just put an addition on my Universal Room. I didn't really measure it but I would say it is more of a 16 x 20. To the left of Frankenstein there are 3 villagers with torches. Frankenstein has a wool coat on which indicates this drawing was inspired by Son Of Frankenstein.

Thank you Steve! That sounds more and more like what I had. Yeah, definitely the "Son of" wool vest was on mine. I forgot about the villagers and I sort of remember a trail and maybe some steps. I clearly remember writing on the bottom and a date. Unless I am blending details of the other poster of the demon. There can't be two poster designs so similar from that time frame. Love that poster. Would love to see a straight on shot some day. Thanks again!

That is really cool looking. A lot of times monster stuff at carnivals were goofy renditions of the monsters but this is a nice Karloff Frankie and the background is cool too. Must look great under a black light.

They sold all the Monster black light posters (there were many different) in head shops and record shops, too. That's where I always got them.

I WONDER IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS CAN BE REPRINTED...

You’d need a very high quality scan from the original artwork. Scanning the poster itself would likely result in blurred edges.

Drool!   Would love to see pics of any of the others from this series.  Me or my older brother had this Frankenstein poster but sadly it's long gone.

Here's a little rainy-day project whilst waiting for the posters to surface on ebay or via a re-print...
Simply print out the high-contrast B/W version I made of the original image, grab a few neon highlighter pens and color to your heart's content!  Print out three of them and create your own Warhol-esque triptych!   Place completed colorings under a blacklight and ta-daaa - instant satisfaction!!!  ;)
