I know its really hot out there and the last thing your craving is a nice warm blanket .. BUT .. hey, it's the Creature!
Just scored this beautiful handmade one of a kind crochet blanket.
Many thanks to a dear friend of mine who assisted me in obtaining it.

General, that is amazing! What time and talent went into that! I'd love to see all of the monsters done this way.

Thanks Aura! Not sure of the actual hours invested in crocheting, but I'm sure its a lot. All handmade - no machine!
A dear friend, and fellow UMA member, has a talented co-worker who crochets blankets. This is her first monster blanket. She usually crochets children's blankets with Thomas the Tank Train, Tweety Bird, etc.
I think I'm going to strip down to my birthday suit and roll myself up in all this monster blanket goodness. :)
Wow!! That's amazing!! Of course however, the magic is radically tempered by the thought of your naughty bits being rubbed across Creech's visage.

Thank you for sharing the photo of the blanket -which is super-awesome, BTW -but
please resist the urge to post pictures of yourself all cuddled up in the blankie!
We know how you love to share, General....
I've been given clearance to identify the talented artist who made this blanket. It turns out she's also a UMA member! Her UMA name is Batty Belfry. Her real name is Rhonda. She likes to crochet and she might be open to commissioned work.
Again, a monstrous salute goes out to Richard Olson for his assistance in setting me up.

I've been meaning to show a more soft and gentler kind of General. This blanket will give me the opportunity to do so. And besides, it will be good for ratings. :)
General, that is one sweeeet blanket! Its swimmingly smashing!!
As I mentioned in the weekly finds thread - it gives the term "seabed" and entirely different take! Congrats to batty belfry, it is beautifully done!
That is one awesome blanket! She really is good at it and could make some money from a lot of us Monster Kids. Would love to see what else she could make.
Daggum, that is awesome! I'd love to have one of those that's Frankenstein or Dracula.
Sweet blanket, General-dude. Should be most condusive to dreaming of The Creature (and Julie Adams ;)).
General, I don't want to see your softer side or any other side.....

My grandmother used to crochet, so I know that it definitely takes a long time. (Wish Granny would have made me a monster blanket. :() But this is exceptionally well done! So props to Batty Belfry!

Thank you for the nice comments on my blanket. I had fun doing this. It takes about a month (in my free time) to make one. I'm so happy this creature found a good home in Terry's house. Richard has another pattern almost ready. He makes the patterns and I crochet them. It's going to be of Frankenstein. Then, I think he's making Dracula and, perhaps, a wolfman. But I'm not sure yet.

Can't wait to see the other ones! How much do you charge for one?

Here is a preview of the Frankenstein image I will use. The pattern has been made. This is a commissioned work so I will start making this quite soon. In answer to questions, it takes me a bit less than a month to produce a blanket. I do so in my free time so it depends. The blanket is completely hand-made by me, start to finish, and I charge $200 for a blanket. I've made many of this size blanket, which I refer to as a lap Afghan. The images and colors have been custom and made-to-order, at times (for example, people have obtained blankets for baby shower gifts).
The Creature blanket was my first monster blanket. This Frankenstein image will be on the next one. These images are a bit more complex than what I've done in the past. However, I can crochet them, with no problem, if I have a good pattern to follow. I think Richard's Frankenstein pattern will turn out quite nice.
Thank you,
Rhonda "Batty"
Beautiful work Rhonda! I hope we can see the Frankenstein before it is sent off to its lucky owner!
Rhonda, you're a true artist!! What beautiful work you do!
looks awesome
I need a monster blanket. Help me, Rhonda, help, help me Rhonda. Sorry for the Beach Boys reference. I couldn't resist. Fabulous work there, a true work of art. Please post the Frankenstein when completed.

I'm nearly done with the Frankenstein blanket. There's a small bit of work to do on the back and then it's finished. I'll post one final clear picture of it before it's turned over to it's new owner.
Thanks for your interest and very nice comments, everyone!
Wow, that's wonderful! :D
The Frankenstein looks fantastic! Wonderful work.

Wow! Both look great! :D
Unbelievable!!
They look like 2 giant Mani-Yack iron-on transfers. Awesome!!!!!!
JP
Both of those are fantastic!!!
Those are really amazing, Batty. I'd love to commission a Dracula Crest blanket, but right now, it's just outside my reach.

That would make a fantastic design!
