I'm not sure if any of you music/metal heads are aware of Ghost, but they deserve a spot on this board!
They've been pretty popular for a little over a year with James Hetfield saying "They're my favorite band" and when Phil Anselmo reunited with Down, they had them onstage and retitled the song "Bury Me In Smoke" to "Bury Me In Ghost"--I'm sure all these things did wonders for their exposure.
Personally, I absolutely hated them when I 1st heard them, I thought the singer was kidding. He sounds like Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys!....Then, another listin and I got hooked on "Ritual".
The band members never expose their faces and call themselves "The Nameless Ghouls", they call their concerts "Rituals" and their fans "Children." The singer Papa Emertius comes out like a Satanic Pope and acts as he's giving a sermon.
I'm sure the Satanic imagery will be a bit much for some but to me, it's all very tongue in a cheek, true entertainment and a very classic, 1960's creepy head nod to horror......Ghost (along with another band I'll start a thread for soon) are one of my 2 new favorite bands (being that I haven't had a favorite band that isn't atleast 10-15 yrs old in a long time.)
Hope you guy's get a kick out of this.....how cool is that album artwork!? I have that on my wall now!

If I don't get to witness this awesomeness soon...my head is gonna explode.

I am not huge on em, but I would def go see them live. It would be a cool show for sure.

Thats how I was my friend was like ya gotta check these guys out so I heard the audio and thought it was a joke! It took me a few listins to get over his voice, then it was just like crack lol. I got hooked...now I think his voice is perfect for what the band does. Subtle and creepy, it's just perfect.
Half the reason I like them so much is because they sound like nothing else right now. Hopefully they tour this way again soon.
Wassup BL!
Love some Ghost. I'm seeing them May 9. I really dig how they sound like Mercyful Fate '85 and Black Sabbath. The hooks stay in your head.
Sweden is really pumping out some good old school metal these days. Check out Graveyard.
T the guy who introduced me to Ghost just mentioned Graveyard lol...I'll check it out.
I missed them in NY because I went saw another band the following night--hopefully they'll stay in the area and catch em again.
Def hearing that early MF sound and the Sabbath vibe is undeniable!
This sounds pretty interesting. Or maybe it looks interesting, which makes me think it sounds interesting. Definitely like their style. I could see them performing in the Paradise. They might get one song out before the Phantom killed them.
I bought Ghost's album on iTunes a few days ago and ended up springing for the Japanese import CD. So in a span of a week, I went from not knowing who they were to spending around $60 on them. Jeesh! There must be some backwards subliminal brainwashing secret coded signals in their music.
The reason I decided I had to have the Japanese album:
Ghost - Here Comes the Sun (Lucifer Rising) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nANf9vmW1s#)
Good stuff Ray, glad to see the devil's music is still doing it's job. Recruiting people and making them spend too much money lol.
I like a few of their songs, but i love their cover of Here Comes the Sun.
I feel like Here Comes the Sun, which closes the Japanese version, puts the entire album in context and gives it the bravura finish it really needs. The US version feels like it's missing the climax.
I'm glad I didn't get the US version then. I know I would be very disappointed that song isn't on there.
It is a great cover and would be a fitting end to the album, though I do love Genesis. It quickly became one of my favorite instrumentals.
I wonder what that video is from?? Bizzare stuff there!
The video is a fan-edited condensed version of a Kenneth Anger short subject called Lucifer Rising.
This band is great
Oh yeah! Huge GHOST fan. Missed them when they were here, last week. Oh well.
just saw them couple weeks ago... amazing show as usual =]

At the Fillmore in MD. They f****** rocked the house! Their youtube videos do not do them justice.
Great shot Baron--looks like you had a great spot!
Thanks BL, I got some short video clips of "Elizabeth" and "Ritual" as well.
How do you upload video from an iPhone?
They sounded great live and had some cool shirts. Definitely one of my new favorite bands.
Yeah I have to cop one of those shirts, did you get one??
I'm not sure about an iphone because I have a dumb ass droid. Usually I'll upload to my computer, then upload to photobucket. Get the code from there and copy and paste it to here--or whever you post it.
As big as Ritual is, Elizabeth is actually my favorite track on that album...the build up with the keyboards at the end is off the charts.
Hope I get to catch em, I know they're done in the Americas for a bit.

Ritual
Here are a couple of short video clips from my iPhone. Thanks for the tip BL!
Heard they got a nice big major label deal today...
That's cool. I heard they were done with their new album, should be out later this year.
On of the best songs, on the album.

Good for them glad to see them doing well
I too am a big Ghost fan. Ghost is on Rise Above Records, and almost all the artists on Rise Above are great. If you're a fan of the devil worshipping retro 70s sound, check out The Devil's Blood. Their latest effort, "The Thousandfold Epicentre" is currently in my number 1 spot for best album of 2012.
